The entrance is pretty unassuming, which I actually liked because it feels more authentic than those flashy chain hotels. You’re literally steps from Central Station, and I mean that — it’s maybe a two-minute walk, which turned out to be incredibly handy when I had early morning trains to catch.
Location & Neighborhood
This three-star spot sits right in the heart of Amsterdam City Centre, and honestly, the location is its biggest selling point. You can walk to Dam Square in about five minutes, and the Red Light District is practically around the corner (whether that’s a pro or con depends on what you’re after). What I really appreciated was being so close to the ferry terminals — those free ferries across the IJ are a great way to see the city from the water, and most tourists miss them entirely.
The Room Experience
My room was on the smaller side, but that’s pretty standard for Amsterdam’s historic buildings — these places weren’t built with modern comfort in mind. The decor felt a bit dated, sort of stuck in the early 2000s, but everything was clean and functional. The bed was comfortable enough, and I had a decent view of the street below. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, making good use of the limited space available in these old canal houses.
Practical Matters
Breakfast happens in a cozy basement restaurant that feels like you’re dining in someone’s cellar — which you basically are, given the building’s age. It’s a simple continental spread, nothing fancy, but the coffee was strong and the bread was fresh. The staff speaks excellent English and actually seems to know the neighborhood well, which helped when I needed directions to some of the less touristy spots I wanted to check out.

Excellent location and good environment My kids love the room. It give us cosy feeling. The beds are comfortable. Location is excellent. Near main train station and a min walk to tram station. Shops, supermarket, restaurant and luandry service are within walking distance. Hotel staffs are friendly and helpful.

Ideal city-centre location, affordable yet good-quality accommodation; recommended. Perfect location for the main rail station (fast connections to Schiphol), which was important for us as we were travelling by train to Zandvoort for the F1 for the first 3 days.
Location also ideal for main city-centre sights, restaurants and bars, so great choices all within a few minutes walk and many on the old canals, lovely.
Nice comfortable room, large bed and good bathroom. Nice buffet breakfast with fresh breads and choice of hot & cold buffet items, self-serve coffee machine. Friendly staff too!

for families with teens (or smaller children) - not the best- you will be better selecting something outside strictly center like 2-3km farther - for ~ 70% of the price you will be getting much higher hotel standard in cleaner, quieter, greener neighborhoods with better restaurants- the cost difference will allow you just use uber when you actually don’t want to walk and still will have some extra for shopping
