First Impressions
Walking up to WestCord Art Hotel Amsterdam 3 stars on Spaarndammerdijk, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical chain hotel. The building has this modern, slightly industrial vibe that fits perfectly with the Westerpark neighborhood — honestly, it’s refreshing to find a three-star property that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard to be something it’s not.
The Neighborhood Scene
You know what’s great about staying in Westerpark? It’s where actual locals hang out, not just tourists. Amsterdam‘s city center is maybe 15 minutes away by tram, but you’re tucked into this area that feels more residential and authentic. There’s Westerpark itself right nearby — I mean, you can literally walk there in five minutes and find yourself in this green space where people are having picnics and walking their dogs.
The Spaarndammerbuurt area has some fantastic cafés and local spots that you just won’t find in the guidebooks. Plus, getting around is actually pretty easy — the tram connections are solid, and you’re not dealing with the chaos of staying right in the thick of things.
Art and Design Elements
The “Art Hotel” part isn’t just marketing speak — they’ve really committed to the concept. Each room has different artwork, and the common areas showcase rotating exhibitions from local artists. It’s not overwhelming or pretentious, just thoughtfully curated pieces that give the place character. The lobby area doubles as a gallery space, which creates this interesting dynamic where you’re always discovering something new.
Practical Comforts
My room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed without unnecessary frills. The beds are decent quality — not the firmest I’ve encountered, but perfectly fine for a good night’s sleep. What I appreciated was the attention to small details: proper lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed, and a bathroom that’s compact but well-designed.
The restaurant on-site serves breakfast and dinner with a focus on local ingredients. Breakfast isn’t elaborate, but it’s fresh and covers all the basics. If you’re looking for parking, they do have options available, which is actually pretty valuable in this part of the city where street parking can be tricky.
Why Guests Love It
This hotel works because it knows exactly what it is — a solid, well-run property that offers good value in a neighborhood that feels authentically Amsterdam. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or concierge services you don’t need. Instead, you get clean accommodations, friendly staff who seem to actually care about your experience, and a location that puts you close to both local life and tourist attractions.
The 8.7 rating makes complete sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point. It’s the kind of place where business travelers feel comfortable, couples find it charming, and solo visitors appreciate the relaxed atmosphere. Sometimes the best hotels are the ones that just get the fundamentals right — and WestCord Art Hotel Amsterdam does exactly that.

What Our Guests Say
Fantastic stay will recommend We had a lovely stay
What could be improved: Nothing was great
The art hotel is well designed and very comfortable. It has everything you need and easy to get the bus into the city ce Lovely hotel
What could be improved: Nothing
Very good Clean room, on a easy bus route into.the city centre.
What could be improved: The limited menu in the bistro. Only ate in there one night and that was enough.
I had a great time. I would stay there again. Staff were very helpful and the art in the room was very cheerful. I really liked the aesthetic. It was very convenient for the local transit system and the instructions on the website were perfect!
Great! Lovely size room, was clean and bed was very comfortable. Welcome treat and departure gift was great!
What could be improved: Was perhaps just that little bit far out from the city with the closest supermarket a bus stop away. Although the bus stop was convenient located just outside.
Exceptional Facilities and location
We will definitely come back this is our 3rd time in Amsterdam and i can easily say that this is the best hotel in Amste Everything
What could be improved: Nothing
Loved it Everything, cannot fault it.
What could be improved: The sink in bathroom needs replacing, old and depressing.
Should be a mirror on the wall by the desk.
Very enjoyable. Very clean hotel.Breakfast was great.Reception staff were helpful and answered any questions that we had.The restaurant was pleasant and in general the food was good .We ate there on two nights and our young female waitress on the first night was very very nice .Overall we had a very pleasant experience.
What could be improved: The service in the restaurant on the second night was not so good and the waiter was not very attentive. This did not take away much from the overall enjoyment of our stay.
A great hotel for an Amsterdam visit The hotel was positioned on the outskirts of busy Amsterdam. The hotel was well run, staff were very friendly, accommodating and always willing to assist. The mattress and pillows were super comfortable. The hotel was super clean. There was a coffee machine with pods for use and a little fridge to keep things cold.
The Location was superb as the bus 22 was just 50m away and came every 15 minutes.
There is an Albert Heinz supermarket at the next stop that is a foodie dream. There are several restaurants at the next stop if you don't want to eat in town.
I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.
What could be improved: The restaurant staff were not as friendly as the staff in the hotel.
