THE FRITZ Hotel Amsterdam caught me off guard in the best way possible. Tucked along Weteringschans in the heart of Amsterdam, this three-star spot has this cool industrial-chic vibe that feels more like a boutique property than your typical mid-range hotel. The moment you walk into the lobby, you’ll notice the exposed concrete and steel beams — it’s actually housed in a converted warehouse, which explains the unexpectedly high ceilings and those massive windows.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about the location — you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, but you’re not stuck in tourist chaos 24/7. The Weteringschans area has this nice residential feel during evenings, with locals cycling past and cafés that aren’t just targeting visitors. There’s a tram stop right around the corner that connects you to Central Station in about ten minutes, which honestly makes getting anywhere in the city pretty effortless.

The Room Experience

My room had that same industrial aesthetic — polished concrete floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and surprisingly comfortable bedding. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, with walk-in showers that actually have decent water pressure. What struck me most was how quiet it stayed at night, considering you’re in the city center. The blackout curtains work well too, which you’ll appreciate if you’re dealing with jet lag.

I mean, you’re in Amsterdam, so you’ll probably want to explore the food scene anyway.
