First Impressions
Walking into Rho Hotel feels like discovering one of those places locals want to keep secret. It sits right on Nes street in the heart of Amsterdam, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — you’re literally steps from Dam Square but tucked away enough that you won’t hear tour groups stomping around at dawn. The building has this understated charm that’s so typically Dutch, no flashy signs or over-the-top lobby, just clean lines and that effortless style Amsterdam does so well.
The Neighborhood Advantage
You know what I love about staying here? You can walk to practically everything that matters. The Red Light District is a three-minute stroll (if that’s your thing), but you’re also super close to those cozy brown cafés where actual Amsterdammers hang out. I mean, there’s this little cheese shop around the corner that’s been there forever, and the morning coffee runs to Café de Reiger became part of my daily routine. The three-star rating might not scream fancy, but the location honestly beats some of the pricier places I’ve tried.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — and I say compact in the best Amsterdam way, where every inch actually serves a purpose. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and they’ve managed to fit in a decent workspace without making things feel cramped. The bathroom’s modern and clean, though if you’re used to American-sized showers, well, adjust your expectations accordingly. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stayed at night, considering you’re right in the city center.
Practical Details
Here’s something that surprised me — the staff actually knows the neighborhood inside and out. When I asked about finding good Indonesian food (because Amsterdam has some incredible Indo spots), they didn’t just point me toward the tourist traps but gave me three solid recommendations that locals would approve of. There’s no on-site restaurant, but honestly, with this location, why would you want to eat in the hotel anyway? The breakfast situation is pretty straightforward, nothing fancy but it gets the job done.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Rho Hotel isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works. You’re paying for a clean, comfortable base in one of the best spots in the city, not for marble lobbies or concierge services you probably won’t use. The 7.7 rating makes perfect sense — it’s solid, reliable, and puts you right where you want to be. If you’re the type who plans to spend most of your time exploring rather than lounging in your hotel room, this place delivers exactly what you need without the unnecessary extras that jack up the price.
To book a hotel in Amsterdam during King’s Day, visitors plan ahead to balance orange-clad street parties with quiet Jordaan strolls.

What Our Guests Say
Great value hotel and the location could not have been better. Excellent location
What could be improved: It was all good, especially the very nice breakfast buffet.
We had a good stay . Location was great and the staff was very friendly.
What could be improved: The room didn’t have any ventilation. Very stuffy. The window opened, but that seemed to be the only ventilation. The shower was very hot, then cold. Didn’t seem to have any balance valve in the system to control the flow of hot water. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean.
Superb The location is in the heart of the city. The staff is friendly and very cooperative. They have baggage storage area so we ch3cked out early. The breakfast is good and is worth it.
What could be improved: Nothing. Everything was perfect. There is no air conditioning in the room. So there were fans for warmer days.
Great location, close to restaurants & shopping. A short walk from the train station Centrally located
What could be improved: Room didn’t have air conditioning
Superb Great location for an affordable price. Clean , nice staff, generous breakfast,
What could be improved: I recommend for the spacious rooms and bathrooms to add some wall hooks to hang cloths or towels.
Great place to stay in Amsterdam Rho hotel is very close to the train station and downtown. Walkable to downtown attractions. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Rho is near a lot
of nice shops and restaurants.
What could be improved: The only climate control is opening windows and using fans to move the air.
Superb Location
Enjoyable and quiet. The ligation is fantastic, very central, close to all major sights and attractions. The greatest thing is that it is also very close to the central train station.
Hotel is very clean, the rooms are huge and they have very nice breakfast. Though the hotel is right in the heart of Amsterdam, with a lot of people walking around the room was quiet and noiseless.
I’d come back here but BYO kettle and mug. Beds and linen were clean and comfortable. It was quiet but in a great area. Hot water was hot and shower easy to control. Stag always obliging.
Location was perfect for transport, points of interest and easy for eating out at affordable restaurants.
Staff were obliging and cheerful.
What could be improved: NO TEA AND COFFEE OR BOILING WATER IN THE ROOMS. This is essential for weary travellers and early risers.
