First Impressions
Residence Flower Market sits right on one of Amsterdam’s most charming canals, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. When I first walked up to Singel 492B, I was struck by how the building feels like it belongs β no flashy signage or tourist-trap vibes, just a beautifully restored canal house that blends seamlessly into the neighborhood. You know what really caught my attention? The fact that you can literally hear the buzz of the nearby flower market without being overwhelmed by it.
The Apartment Experience
This four-star property operates more like a collection of stylish apartment rentals than a traditional hotel, which actually works in your favor. Each unit comes with a proper kitchen, and I mean a real one β not some tiny kitchenette tucked in a corner. The room layouts are thoughtfully designed, making the most of that classic Amsterdam architecture with its tall windows and original details. What impressed me most was how they’ve managed to modernize everything without losing the historic character of the building.
Canal Side Living
Being right on the Singel canal means you get those quintessential Amsterdam views, but more importantly, you’re perfectly positioned for exploring the city on foot. The famous flower market is literally around the corner β I could walk there in under two minutes for fresh tulips or just to soak in the atmosphere. Central Station is about a 15-minute stroll, which means you’re connected to the rest of the Netherlands without dealing with the chaos of staying right next to it.
Neighborhood Insights
This part of Amsterdam City Centre strikes that perfect balance between authentic local life and tourist accessibility. There’s a decent restaurant scene within walking distance, but you’re also close enough to the Jordaan district to explore some of the city’s best dining spots. The streets here feel lived-in rather than overly polished β you’ll see locals on bikes heading to work mixed in with visitors discovering hidden cafes. Parking is typically Amsterdam challenging, but that’s true everywhere in the city center, and honestly, you won’t need a car anyway.
Why Guests Love It
With a 9.3 rating, this place clearly gets something right, and from my experience, it’s the combination of space, location, and that residential feel. You’re not just staying in Amsterdam β you’re temporarily living there, which makes all the difference when you want to experience the city like a local rather than just tick off tourist sites. The fact that you can cook your own breakfast or grab groceries from the local market gives you a flexibility that traditional hotels can’t match, especially if you’re staying for more than just a quick weekend.

What Our Guests Say
Exceptional Fantastic location and wonderful hosts.
Exceptional The location
Great, Central location Excellent location. The night revelers can be a loud, out on the Singel.but we had ear plugs and all was well. The hosts are great, place is suitable for small family 2 adults 2 younger kids.
Exceptional Nice place and a friendly host π
Exceptional Had a great stay here. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They were able to provide us with a shuttle to the airport. Great location right next to the flower market.
What could be improved: Nothing
Superb Excellent location and view. Very nice accommodation and hospitality. The apartment is " Room in Amsterdam" for those who can understand.
What could be improved: Watch out the stairs. Of course, you get used to them easily.
Superb The apartment is located in a very good area and was very clean.
What could be improved: We experienced a very poor internet connection. The WiβFi was so unreliable that I couldnβt really use it and had to rely on mobile data instead.
A small enhancement could be placing a mirror on the wall, perhaps opposite the kitchen, as a nice addition.
Great apartment in Amsterdam. The apartment was very clean and in an excellent location. It's close to so many things but it's still quiet at night. The hosts responded to questions immediately and were friendly and on time when we arrived.
What could be improved: The only thing that we didn't like were the stairs. If you've been to Amsterdam you probably already know about stairs there...they are very steep and not very deep. Again, this is apparently common there.
Pleasant and comfortable enough with large space, but didnβt really feel βluxuryβ -good location.
-Large amount of space /apartment rather than room
-I saw the owner once and he was friendly
What could be improved: -very steep stairs, 3 flights up
-exceptionally soft bed mattress (I like ultra firm)
-furnishings were pretty bare-bones, a shower soap dish and a shower door would have been welcome
Very nice stay! Perfect !
