First Impressions
Walking up to Tweede Laurierdwarsstraat Apartment, you’ll immediately notice you’re on one of those quintessential Amsterdam side streets that feels like a local secret. The building sits quietly among the canal houses, and honestly, that’s part of its charm — it doesn’t scream “tourist accommodation” from the outside. This four-star property occupies a prime spot in what locals consider the real Amsterdam, where you’re more likely to bump into residents heading to their favorite brown café than tour groups with matching umbrellas.
Location & Neighborhood
I mean, when couples rate the location 9.7 out of 10, you know something special is happening here. The Tweede Laurierdwarsstraat runs perpendicular to the famous Prinsengracht canal, which means you’re literally steps away from the postcard-perfect canal views everyone comes to Amsterdam for. What’s brilliant about this spot is that you can walk to the Anne Frank House in about eight minutes, hit the Jordaan’s best restaurants and galleries without breaking a sweat, yet still feel like you’re staying somewhere authentically local. The nearest tram stop connects you to Central Station and the museum district effortlessly — though honestly, you’ll probably end up walking everywhere because the city center is so compact from here.
The Apartment Experience
This isn’t your typical hotel room setup — you’re getting a proper Amsterdam apartment experience, which actually makes perfect sense in a city where space is at such a premium. The layout feels thoughtfully designed rather than cramped, and there’s something satisfying about having your own little Dutch home base. You know what I appreciated most? The windows — they’re those tall, characteristic Amsterdam windows that flood the space with natural light during the day. The furnishings strike that sweet spot between modern comfort and respecting the building’s historic character, though don’t expect cutting-edge finishes (this is a four-star property, after all).
Practical Considerations
Let’s talk about the stuff that actually matters when you’re staying somewhere. The apartment comes equipped with everything you need for a proper Amsterdam stay — kitchen facilities that are genuinely useful if you want to grab fresh ingredients from the local markets, reliable WiFi for those inevitable “look where I am” video calls home, and decent storage space for your belongings. The building itself is typically Amsterdam narrow, so if you’re traveling with large suitcases, just be prepared for some creative maneuvering up the stairs. The neighborhood has excellent coffee shops (the caffeine kind), a solid selection of restaurants within a two-minute walk, and a small grocery store that’s perfect for essentials.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something genuinely special about waking up on a quiet Amsterdam side street and feeling like you belong there, even temporarily. The Tweede Laurierdwarsstraat Apartment delivers that experience without the tourist-trap feeling you get in some city center accommodations. Couples especially seem to connect with the intimate scale of both the apartment and the neighborhood — it’s romantic without being overly precious about it. You’re staying in the heart of Amsterdam (that 9.5 location score isn’t an accident), but you’re doing it in a way that feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than checking into a hotel. For travelers who want to experience Amsterdam like locals do, rather than just tick off the major sights, this spot hits exactly the right note.
