First Impressions
Walking up to Jupiter Hotel on 2e Helmersstraat, you immediately get the sense that this three-star property knows exactly what it is — and honestly, that’s refreshing. The building fits seamlessly into the charming Oud-West neighborhood, where narrow streets are lined with those classic Amsterdam facades that make every corner feel like a postcard. There’s nothing flashy about the entrance, but it’s welcoming in that understated Dutch way that grows on you.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about Oud-West — it’s where locals actually want to live, and Jupiter Hotel sits right in the heart of it all. You’re genuinely in one of Amsterdam’s most desirable areas, which explains that impressive 8.9 location score. The Vondelpark is practically on your doorstep, perfect for morning runs or lazy afternoon picnics. What I love most is how you can walk to the museum district in about ten minutes, but you’re also surrounded by authentic brown cafés and local shops that tourists often miss. Couples especially seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 8.8 for romantic getaways, and I can see why.
The Experience
The hotel strikes this nice balance between being polished and approachable. You know what I mean — it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but everything feels well-maintained and thoughtfully done. The staff actually seems to know the neighborhood, which makes a huge difference when you’re asking for restaurant recommendations or the best route to avoid tourist crowds. I’ve noticed they’re particularly good at suggesting those hidden local spots that make Amsterdam feel less like a checklist and more like a discovery.
Getting Around
One of those details that matters more than you’d think — the tram connections from this part of Oud-West are actually excellent. You can hop on a tram and be in the city center within minutes, or head the other direction toward the more residential neighborhoods where you’ll find some of Amsterdam’s best kept secrets. The area around Jupiter Hotel has this walkable quality that’s becoming rare in popular European cities. You’ll find yourself strolling to dinner instead of automatically reaching for your phone to call a taxi.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back is how the hotel captures that authentic Amsterdam experience without sacrificing comfort. You’re staying in a real neighborhood where people live and work, not just a tourist bubble. The combination of being in such a highly-rated area while maintaining that approachable three-star feel seems to hit the sweet spot for travelers who want to experience the city like locals do. Plus, there’s something to be said for a place that consistently earns an 8.0 rating — it means they’re doing the fundamentals really well, day after day.
Hotels in Amsterdam hug storybook canals, museum quarters, and bike lanes shaded by elms.

What Our Guests Say
Trip to Amsterdam The fascilities in the room were good. Quiet area. Didn't really hear the other guests. Easy to come and go as you pleased as a seperate entry. We couldn't get the tv to work at first and the toilet seat was very loose. However they were corrected the next day.
What could be improved: I use a walking stick so the steps in and out of the room were a little tricky. The steps inside the room also had gaps in them that caught my stick the first day. I ended up leaving the stick in the washroom and using the hand rail. A linen cage sits outside the room so have to shuffle past that. There is no mini fridge which would be a great help!
Nothing to do with the hotel but be careful of the paving. I tripped and fell over a slab so now going home bruised!
Great location, great facilities The room was very well sized as was the bathroom. The room had a smart TV with access to Netflix/Disney+ etc.
The staff were lovely!
What could be improved: Beware of the small lift or very steep stairs! Otherwise we loved it.
I can totally recommend this hotel. The room was clean and cozy. Large enough for my family of 4.
The staff is very kind and helpful.
The hotel is in a very good location - quiet and close to the center and public transportation options.
Great place to stay - quiet and comfortable and with Amsterdam attractions on your doorstep. Great place to base your stay in Amsterdam - handy for the shops and trams and not far from the museum quarter. Comfortable and clean hotel with a homely welcome.
What could be improved: If you have access needs you might find the upper floors difficult - although my mum (80 years) managed fine.
Great base for a multi-day stay in a lovely city - quiet, clean and comfortable. Great, secluded location for exploring Amsterdam on foot or by tram. Very comfortable hotel - querky stairs but that is standard for older houses in the city. Would recommend as great value for money.
What could be improved: Options for breakfast could be broader but still it was nice to have a free coffee and croissant to start the day. If you have problems with access the stairs are very steep and the lift small but it suited our needs fine.
Very good Check-in was great, they held our luggages until the room was ready, beds were great, room was clean, and had a terrific location. Great value for your money.
What could be improved: Smaller rooms, such as the single's room, are accessible only by stairs, but there is no explanation of it on Booking page.
Other than that, perfect stay.
Would recommend for any couple for a lovely spot close to tram stops and many sights. Great room with well stocked kitchen. Comfortable bed. Very clean. Staff very attentive and helpful.
What could be improved: Stairs were tough to navigate. Elevators worked well.
Great choice in terms of affordability and location (museumsquartier) Great location, not too touristy, not too crowded, yet with access to everything via the Leidseplein square. Walking distance to the museumsquartier, which was my priority. Good installations, friendly staff. Everything looked pretty new and well kept. I especially appreciated the 1h complimentary late check-out I so kindly received upon requesting. Safe surroundings, which I also very much appreciated as a woman traveling alone. Food and market options nearby.
What could be improved: I nearly twisted my foot on the bottom step of the staircase - it's a bit different in size than the others. Maybe at least worth checking. Also the "open shower" concept with no water stopper was a bit unecessary - lots of squeegeeing, but not too bad, though.
Good Location. Nice reception area and garden. Quiet
What could be improved: A bit cramped. Steep staircase but was a lift
Superb great hotel
What could be improved: no elevator and very steep
stairs
