First Impressions
The ibis Styles Amsterdam City caught my attention immediately with its bold, colorful exterior — it’s definitely not your typical chain hotel look. Located right on Stadhouderskade, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Rijksmuseum, which honestly makes the location pretty unbeatable. The lobby has this playful, modern vibe with bright artwork and funky furniture that actually feels authentically Dutch rather than trying too hard.
Location & Getting Around
You know what I love about this spot? You can walk to Vondelpark in about five minutes, and the Museum Quarter is right there. The tram stops are super close — Museumplein is just around the corner, so getting to Central Station or anywhere else in Amsterdam is actually pretty straightforward. I mean, you’re in the heart of everything cultural, but it doesn’t feel touristy-crazy like some areas near Dam Square.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact but cleverly designed — typical for Amsterdam, really. Everything has this clean, contemporary feel with pops of color that match the hotel’s overall aesthetic. The bed was surprisingly comfortable for a three-star place, and I appreciated the decent-sized desk since I needed to catch up on some work. The bathroom is small but functional, with a good shower that actually has proper water pressure.
Amenities & Atmosphere
There’s a restaurant on-site that serves solid international food — nothing groundbreaking, but better than I expected for this price range. The breakfast spread is pretty comprehensive with both Dutch and international options. What I really liked was the 24-hour bar area where you can grab snacks or just hang out. The staff genuinely seemed to know the neighborhood well and gave me some great recommendations for local spots.
Why Guests Love It
Honestly, it’s the combination of location and value that makes this place work. You’re paying reasonable rates to be steps away from world-famous museums and beautiful parks, plus the hotel itself has personality — something that’s harder to find than you’d think in Amsterdam. The whole place feels young and energetic without being loud or chaotic, and that’s a pretty sweet spot for exploring the city.

What Our Guests Say
Staff were nice Easy to get to and we were allowed to leave our baggage until check-in time. Staff were curteoud and we could rent bicycles right at the hotel! Bonus, we were literally 3 minutes away from the Albert Cuyp market.
What could be improved: You can hear quite a bit in the hallway and it was quite warm. We had A/C, but for the température outside the building inside was way too hot.
They made my check-in super easy despite I aarived at 10 AM plus upgrading the from for free! Location is quite good and They were very welcoming and flexible.
Comfortable View from the room was good and room was clean
What could be improved: NA
Ok Location
What could be improved: Room near the entrance was a bit noisy…
Very good The staff were incredibly helpful and kind, they were able to provide really strong customer support, and they all knew their stuff. Can’t stress enough how nice it was to have really friendly, supportive reception staff! I’d come back just based on their level of service.
Good Location Location
What could be improved: Nothing
Centrally located to transportation and easy access to museums and sights. The room was adequate in size and faced the canal. Very quiet. bathroom and shower were easy access. location was around the corner from the outdoor market with varied food options.
What could be improved: The beds were very narrow.....
Superb Very helpful and warm staff. Brian and Alexandra were very helpful, and so was the staff at the breakfast room.
A well priced inner city hotel in Amsterdam Most importantly the hotel has a lift
What could be improved: The entry steps although only 4-5 in total are steep. A hand rail is needed to assist less able guests.
Amsterdam Fun Terrific staff at front desk, breakfast and others.
What could be improved: Room so small that I could not open my suitcase.
