First Impressions
Walking up to the Linden Hotel on Lindengracht, you immediately get that “this is exactly what I was hoping for” feeling. It’s tucked into one of those classic Amsterdam canal-side streets where the buildings lean slightly toward each other, and honestly, the location alone makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special. This three-star property doesn’t try to be flashy — instead, it has that understated Dutch charm that actually feels more authentic than some of the bigger places I’ve stayed at in Amsterdam.
The Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying on Lindengracht — you’re genuinely in the thick of things without being on one of those tourist-packed streets where you can barely walk. The Jordaan district spreads out around you with its maze of narrow streets and local cafes, and I mean, you can walk to the Anne Frank House in about ten minutes if you want to tackle the crowds. But honestly, some of my best moments were just wandering the smaller canals nearby, especially in the early morning when the light hits the water just right and the city feels like it belongs to you.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — you know how Amsterdam hotels can be tiny, but this felt efficient rather than cramped. The windows opened onto the street below, and there’s something oddly soothing about falling asleep to the sound of bikes rolling over cobblestones. The bed was comfortable enough, and the bathroom, while not huge, had everything you actually need. What struck me most was how clean everything felt — not sterile, just well-maintained in that Dutch way where attention to detail matters.
Daily Rhythms
Mornings here have a nice rhythm to them. There’s a solid breakfast setup that gets you going without being overly elaborate, and the staff — well, they’re helpful without hovering, which I appreciate. You’ll find yourself naturally falling into the Amsterdam pace: grab coffee from one of the local spots (there’s a great one two blocks down), maybe rent a bike, and just let the city unfold around you. The hotel becomes this comfortable base where you can drop your bags and head back out, knowing you’ve got a good spot to return to.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes this place work is that location score everyone talks about — and after staying here, I get why couples rate it so highly for romantic trips. You’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the chaos to actually enjoy each other’s company. The Linden Hotel doesn’t oversell itself, and that’s refreshing. It’s just a well-run, comfortable place in one of Amsterdam’s most livable neighborhoods, where you can experience the city like someone who actually lives here rather than just passing through.

What Our Guests Say
Very good Cosy and clean hotel in a great neighbourhood. The stuff was really helpful and welcoming and I enjoyed my stay here!
The room was not big but it’s a good deal for a solo traveler
Great place to stay in Amsterdam Quaint. End of street by canal
Exceptional Clean, quiet place. They’ve got area for free coffee and tea. We’ve received a small gift from hotel after our stay.
Linden offered so many extras and became our most memorable stay It is a beautiful facility, and the staff was so warm and friendly
What could be improved: We had to put towels down on the floor to keep the water from seeping out of the room
A fantastic little hotel in a great location The staff were amazing, so friendly and some great little touches like free tea/coffee and sweets.
What could be improved: The rooms are small. This was not a problem for us at all but just something to be aware of
Hotel that i would stay again Staff was friendly, location convenient, and safe. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, and sights.
The location is within a nice residential area, minutes away from a great Saturday open air market Location is great. If you are looking for a small quaint hotel that is in the section of Amsterdam within walking distance of the famous 9 streets, great cafes and restaurants, on a canal and only a 15 to 20 minute walk to the Central Train station and center of Amsterdam book here. You will not be disappointed.
What could be improved: There was nothing we did not like.
Exceptional Love love the location and the feel of the hotel was very welcoming! Staff were very nice, especially Elise. She really went above and beyond to connect! Nothing
Excellent hotel The staff were very helpful. The location is excellent, being close to the center while still away from the bustling streets.
Superb The hotel was in a quiet and lovely neighborhood! Staff were kind and really helpful. They upgraded our room which was a pleasant surprise! The shower was quite small, but worked well. Great experience. If stairs are difficult, this would not be the place to stay. Highly recommend!
