First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Isis in Amsterdam Noord, you immediately get the sense this is a neighborhood find rather than a tourist trap. The three-star property sits quietly on Spreeuwenpark, and honestly, that’s part of its charm — you’re staying where locals actually live and work. The building itself has that understated Dutch practicality, nothing flashy, but everything looks well-maintained and purposeful.
The Noord Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location — you’re in Amsterdam Noord, which means you get to experience the city like an actual resident. Sure, you’ll need to take the free ferry across the IJ river to reach the historic center, but that five-minute ride becomes part of your daily rhythm. The area around the hotel has this emerging creative energy, with converted warehouses, local cafes, and bike paths that stretch for miles.
Couples especially seem to appreciate the quieter vibe here — there’s something romantic about having your own little corner of the city. The neighborhood offers a genuine alternative to the crowded tourist zones, with authentic Dutch character and a welcoming atmosphere that makes visitors feel like residents.
Your Room and Comfort
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a solid three-star — clean, functional, and surprisingly quiet given how close you are to the city. The beds are comfortable enough, and the bathrooms are compact but efficient. You’re not getting marble countertops or fancy amenities, but everything works as it should. The windows are decent-sized, so you get good natural light during those long summer days Amsterdam is famous for.
Getting Around
The ferry connection is actually brilliant once you figure it out — it runs frequently and drops you right at Central Station. From there, you’re connected to everything. But honestly, some of my best discoveries happened right in Noord itself. There’s a growing food scene, interesting shops, and way fewer crowds than you’ll find in the Jordaan or around the canals.
If you’re someone who likes to explore beyond the obvious tourist spots, this base makes perfect sense. The location encourages genuine discovery and provides easy access to both the city center and the authentic local experience.
Why Guests Love It
What strikes me most about Hotel Isis is how it delivers exactly what it promises — no more, no less. You’re getting solid accommodation in a location that’s both authentic and well-connected. The staff knows their neighborhood and can point you toward local spots that don’t show up in guidebooks.
It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing Amsterdam rather than just visiting it. For the price point, especially considering how expensive the city center has become, it offers genuine value without any pretense. This hotel represents smart, practical travel planning.

What Our Guests Say
Very good Very good staff. Very cordial and good behave.
What could be improved: Please give soup and toothpaste in room.
Good for a couple of days. Ahmed was extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is in a good neighborhood.
What could be improved: No elevators. No AC, and the room is very small.
Good location and away from the noise The location turned out to be very good! Short walk to the ferry boat. Quiet neighborhood. Close to a couple markets. The staff were very kind, pleasant, very helpful. And we loved the cat! Easy check in. The bathroom and shower functioned well. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom and plenty of toilet appear. They have bicycle rentals there which is very convenient. Overall, it’s good value for the money especially if you’re just using a room for a place to put your things and sleep. It had a small refrigerator in the room as well. The beds were comfortable. Slept through the night. It’s not the most sound-proof building but it was never an issue for us. Our room had a balcony which was kind of a nice bonus. Nothing special but was nice to open the doors and let the outside air in denoting the night.
What could be improved: I always make note of there is no drain plug in the sink. If you wear contact lens then this can be a concern. A lot of reviews complain about the steps. But steep narrow steps are common in Amsterdam. It’s not that big of a deal.
Good spot Great spot. A good base if to visit the city. 10 minute walk to the 24 hour free ferry that drops you to centraal station. Bar, coffee shop, bakery and supermarket all right beside the hotel. Small room but comfortable bed. Mini fridge included in room. As some have mentioned the room can be quite warm but the fan supplied in the room seemed to do the trick.
What could be improved: Space was quite tight in the room and the room could do with a bit of freshening up
Great Helpful staff, good location. Very clean
What could be improved: The stairs!
I would stay next time location, restaurant next door
What could be improved: no lift
Great stay, lovely staff, would book again. Basic but clean and comfortable, everything we needed. Bed was comfy.
What could be improved: Was pretty expensive but might be reflective of the cost of Amsterdam in general.
Good Great location 4min walk to the ferry, very comfortable bed have laundry service too very cheap. Very friendly and helpful staff no elevator so if you have big bags it's a struggle 😅 ery good stay though good size room and bathroom
Very good It was very clean, and they have bikes that you can rent!
What could be improved: It's a bit far away from downtown, but it's good price for value.
👍 Small rooms and baths, but the price was good for Amsterdam, the location was good- close to many sights, but quite. Great staff. Friendly and accommodating.!
What could be improved: location and staff.
