First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel De Looier on Derde Looierdwarsstraat, you immediately get that authentic Amsterdam feeling — you know, narrow cobblestone streets, historic canal houses, the whole nine yards. This three-star property sits right in the heart of Amsterdam City Centre, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building itself has that classic Dutch charm without trying too hard, which I actually appreciate more than those overly polished chain hotels.
The Neighborhood Magic
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally surrounded by Amsterdam’s most iconic areas, but you’re tucked away on a quieter side street. The Jordaan district is right at your doorstep, which means you’ll stumble upon those cozy brown cafés and vintage shops that locals actually frequent. I mean, couples consistently rate this location a 9.4 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You can walk to the Anne Frank House in about five minutes, hit the major museums without breaking a sweat, and still feel like you’re staying somewhere with character rather than in the tourist chaos.
Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact — this is Amsterdam, after all — but thoughtfully designed. You’re not getting massive spaces here, but everything feels purposeful and clean. The windows actually open (which sounds basic but trust me, it matters), and if you’re lucky enough to get a street-facing view, you’ll catch glimpses of daily Amsterdam life. The beds are comfortable enough, and the bathrooms are modern without being sterile. It’s that sweet spot between budget and boutique that’s honestly hard to find in this city.
Breakfast Worth Waking Up For
Breakfast here surprised me in the best way possible. They’ve got this buffet setup with continental options, but what impressed me was how they handle dietary restrictions — vegetarian and gluten-free choices that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The coffee is proper strong (thank goodness), and there’s enough variety to fuel whatever Amsterdam adventure you’ve got planned. I found myself lingering over breakfast longer than usual, partly because the dining area has this relaxed vibe that doesn’t rush you out the door.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Hotel De Looier isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works so well. You’re paying for an excellent location — seriously, that 9.5 location score isn’t just marketing fluff — and getting solid comfort without the premium price tag. The staff seems to actually know the neighborhood and can point you toward spots that aren’t in every guidebook. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about staying in this part of Amsterdam, away from the Red Light District crowds but close enough to everything that matters. It’s one of those places where you feel like you’re experiencing the real Amsterdam rather than just visiting it.
Early hotels booking in Amsterdam secures light festival cruises, jazz club nights, and private cheese-tasting sessions.

What Our Guests Say
Superb The location is very convenient and the neighborhood is quiet. The room met all my expectations, and the bed was very comfortable. Checking in and out was very easy, and the staff are all pretty friendly. If I wanted to stay in a hotel, I would consider this one again.
What could be improved: I don't think I have any real complaints at this time. It was a nice time there
Very good Good transport links, easy access, helpful staff 24/7.
Comfy beds, clean room and facilities.
Perfect location for what we needed, quiet residential area but short walk to amenities and night life if we wanted.
What could be improved: Not a single complaint- didn't see any negative reviews until after we booked but saw no proof of anything once we got there. Glad I don't pay heed to haters!!
Enjoyable and comfortable stay. Lovely room, perfect for myself and my daughter. Walking distance across the canals to the trams, shops etc.
What could be improved: Nothing
Superb The location was great. The places we wanted and went o see were within walking distance.. The staff was knowledgeable of the directional sites.
What could be improved: Not very much.
Superb The central location and the tipic neighbourhood
Great location to stay. We had a short stay at this hotel. We arrived at the start of November so it wasn't too cold but all the Christmas lights were up which made for a great walk at night. The staff were excellent and helpful. Gave us some useful tips on how to go about Amsterdam. Comfortable bed in a large room. Just outside the centre of Amsterdam which is perfect for me and my partner. Literally 5 minutes in the centre , maybe less than that.
Great little hotel. Thanks for having us.
Tip for anyone looking to this hotel. There's a tram line that stops a minute walk from the hotel. And you're talking like €1 to hope on and off so.
We stayed for 2 nights and then the staff was very accommodating when we asked to stay a 3rd night. Would stay again. It was clean, good value for money, beds and pillows were comfortable. Room had lamps and outlets and shower was hot.
What could be improved: Nothing! It was exactly as advertised. Simple and perfect for young people just needing a safe place to sleep.
Good place to stay to see Amsterdam, everything in walking distance. Central location, comfortable room and very friendly staff.
Lovely boutique hotel with great staff. Great location within walking distance of all the Amsterdam attractions. Very friendly and helpful staff. Large comfortable bed and room very clean.
What could be improved: Basically nothing except some night time noise from the street outside but it is, after all, a capital city full of bars and coffee shops.
This was our second stay - I’ll definitely be back The staff are just delightful and it is in a slightly quieter part of the city which we loved
