First Impressions
Eden Studios and Apartments sits right on Amstel river — and I mean literally on it, with those classic Amsterdam canal house windows looking straight out over the water. Walking up to this four-star place, you’ll notice it’s got that perfect balance between historic charm and modern comfort that’s honestly pretty hard to find in Amsterdam‘s city center. The building itself feels like it belongs here, which is something you can’t say about every hotel in this tourist-heavy area.
Location and Getting Around
Here’s what I love about the spot — you’re literally a five-minute walk to Rembrandtplein, but far enough from the chaos that you can actually sleep at night. The Waterlooplein market is right around the corner, and if you’re into museums (which, come on, you’re in Amsterdam), the Jewish Cultural Quarter is practically on your doorstep. You know what’s really convenient? The metro stop at Waterlooplein means you can get anywhere in the city without dealing with tram crowds.
The Accommodations
Now, about those studios and apartments — they’re genuinely practical in a way that makes you feel like you could actually live here for a while. Each apartment comes with a proper kitchenette, and I’m talking about real cooking space, not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation. The room layouts make smart use of space without feeling cramped, which is honestly an art form in Amsterdam’s narrow buildings. Some units have those gorgeous canal views I mentioned, though you’ll want to request one specifically if that matters to you.
Practical Details
The staff here actually knows the neighborhood — they’ll point you toward that little Indonesian restaurant two blocks over that doesn’t show up in guidebooks, or tell you which coffee shop has the shortest lines in the morning. There’s no on-site parking, but honestly, you don’t want a car in central Amsterdam anyway. What you do get is solid WiFi, decent water pressure, and rooms that stay quiet even when the weekend crowds descend on the area.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the fanciest place you’ll ever stay, but it gets the fundamentals right in a way that makes your trip smoother. The 8.1 rating makes sense when you consider that you’re getting apartment-style space in a prime location without paying luxury hotel prices. It’s the kind of place where you can grab groceries, cook breakfast while watching boats go by, then step outside and be in the thick of everything within minutes. For travelers who want to feel less like tourists and more like temporary locals, Eden Studios hits that sweet spot perfectly.

What Our Guests Say
Very good Everything was perfect as expected
Had a brilliant time, and loved Amsterdam. Amazing views, great location - a good sized apartment for a family. Kitchen facilities were limited but fine for occasional use.
What could be improved: Beds were not hugely comfortable.
Great location, clean and pretty, A grade comfort Location was excellent
Very good flexibility on getting the room cleaned basis need
Ideal amenities
What could be improved: Washing machine access could be useful
Folding bed could be more comfortable
Good Nice location and friendly staff.
What could be improved: On the last night we noticed a family of mice running around. No laundry area at the hotel, they used a really expensive dry cleaning service.
Well placed for a city break to Amsterdam Location is excellent, overlooking canal, close to everything. Provided everything that was needed for a short stay. Easy check in and check out. The apt layout was quite quirky, which I liked.
What could be improved: The stairs to the apartment are very steep, we were top floor so up 4 flights of stairs, no lifts. I hadn’t realised this is typical of buildings in Amsterdam. The hotel was attached and offered help with getting the cases up and down though
I would recommend this place as the location is excellent. The location was stellar, right on a canal in central Amsterdam. The view from the window onto the canal was amazing. Rembrandt square was just around the corner with lots of restaurants & a tram stop that connected us to the rest of Amsterdam. The front desk staff in the hotel were very kind and helpful.
What could be improved: The building was very old, with very steep stairs and no elevator. It was difficult to get our luggage up into the 3rd floor apartment, though the front desk staff did help carry it up. The room was dated with old carpets throughout, though it was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots, and utensils.
Perfect Amsterdam accommodation The location was awesome. The apartment was a great size, comfy bed and perfect shower.
Nice hotel in a good location. Fabulous breakfast buffet! Lots of options.
What could be improved: Apartment was kind of dark and could use more lights.
Misrepresented room. Beautiful location and very close to a bus line and restaurants. We liked having separation from our child and a kitchen.
What could be improved: The “stairs” are a very tight fit spiral staircase that are more reminiscent of a ladder. Are largest bags were medium check bags and they barely fit. The posting says that upper rooms have stairs, but doesn’t specify which rooms those are. We were lead to believe that the room had a canal view. It was really a sticker on the window of the canal. You could see the canal from the dining room windows if you pressed your head on the window. The bathroom upstairs is only a toilet. So the person upstairs still has to come down to wash hands. The bed on the main floor is two twins stuck together, so you can’t snuggle without the beds separating.
Fantastic location, steep stairs to the unit we stayed in Eden Apartments are in an excellent location, close to many good restaurants, bakeries, boat tours, and public transportation. It's right on the main canal, making it a very attractive location. The staff was very helpful in answering questions, hauling luggage (more on that later), etc. We arrived early at the property. They held our luggage for us and managed to have room ready 1 hour before the 3PM check-in, which was greatly appreciated.
What could be improved: We were in apartment 889. Although the room itself was very good, it was up on the 3rd floor with the tightest spiral staircase that I have ever been on. (In comparison, the stairs in the Anne Frank house are easy). Fortunately, the staff carried the luggage up and down for us. I would not have been able to do it. And the lighting on the last set of stairs was not that good. If you're young, maybe not a big deal. If you are in your 60's or later, I wouldn't recommend this particular apartment.
