Here’s the thing about staying literally across from Amsterdam Centraal — you can’t beat it for convenience. I mean, you step outside and boom, you’re at the main train station with connections everywhere. The historic city center is a pleasant 10-minute walk, and those famous canals start just around the corner. What I really appreciated was being able to drop my bags and immediately start exploring without figuring out trams or taxis.

My room on the seventh floor had this great view of the IJ waterfront — something I wasn’t expecting from a four-star chain hotel. The space felt contemporary with clean lines and that signature DoubleTree bedding that’s actually comfortable. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, and there’s decent soundproofing considering you’re so close to a major transit hub.

The ground-floor restaurant serves solid international fare, though honestly, with Amsterdam’s incredible food scene right outside, I mostly used it for quick breakfasts. The fitness center is small but functional, and the 24-hour business center came in handy when I needed to print boarding passes. There’s also parking available, which is practically gold in this part of the city.

What Our Guests Say
Great place, great views, great food, great staff Hotel decor was beautiful, clean and fresh. Everything was within walking distance. Great view from the Deluxe King room overlooking the river. A stones through away from Amsterdam Centraal. Breakfast had such a vast choice and tasted so good and fresh.
What could be improved: Unfortunately when we arrived there was a trainee member of staff on. We stood for 30 minutes while the trainee was dealing with a check in. He had to keep getting help from other members of staff. I understand that we were all a trainee once upon a time but we were behind this guest and about 10 people behind myself waiting. Would have been nice if someone had been with him so things could have sped along. All the best though to Max with your training.

Superb We loved the breakfast!! And the close location to the train station was perfect as was the close location to the docks for the river boats. We could easily walk everywhere around Amsterdam. We really had no complaints at all.

What could be improved: maybe this is a dutch thing but i found the staff to not be as friendly as i thought. when checking in, i expected to be told about the bar/restaurant and where theyre located, where the gyms/spas are etc. but there was none of this and while it isnt life changing to know where the restaurant is, i kind of expected it to be part of the script to welcome your guests especially if youre going to a hilton-level hotel. this was the same for other things as well like with room service/debit card use etc. its as if they are not doing customer facing work and i personally think would really benefit from saying more or being friendlier. this was mostly male front desk staff though.
