First Impressions
Walking up to Delta Hotel City Center on Damrak, you can’t help but notice how it sits right in the thick of things — tourists with cameras, trams clanging by, and that distinctly Amsterdam mix of old architecture and constant movement. It’s a three-star place that doesn’t pretend to be anything fancy, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. The building has that classic Dutch narrow facade thing going on, squeezed between other historic structures like they’re all playing an eternal game of Tetris.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s what I really appreciated — you’re maybe a three-minute walk from Central Station, which means you can literally roll out of bed and catch a train to anywhere in the Netherlands. Amsterdam‘s main shopping street, Nieuwmarkt, and the Red Light District are all within stumbling distance (and I mean that in the best possible way). You know what’s really convenient? There’s a tram stop right outside that connects you to the museum quarter, so you don’t have to navigate the confusing bike lanes with a map in your hand.
The Room Reality
Let me be straight with you — the room I stayed in was compact, and I mean Amsterdam-compact. But it was clean, the bed was actually comfortable, and the window opened to street views where you can people-watch for hours. The bathroom was one of those European-style tight fits, but the water pressure was decent and everything worked. There’s no fancy mini-bar or anything like that, but honestly, with so many cafes and shops downstairs, who needs it?
Getting Around and Eating
The ground floor has a small restaurant that serves basic breakfast — nothing Instagram-worthy, but decent coffee and pastries that’ll fuel your day. What I actually loved more was stepping outside and having about fifteen different food options within a two-block radius. From stroopwafel stands to proper brown cafes, you’re basically in food heaven. Parking is… well, this is central Amsterdam, so forget about driving here unless you enjoy paying more for a parking spot than your hotel room.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Delta Hotel City Center isn’t going to win any design awards, and the 7.2 rating reflects exactly what it is — a solid, no-nonsense place to crash in one of Europe’s most expensive cities. What makes it work is the location and the fact that the staff actually seems to care about helping you figure out the city. I saw them giving detailed directions to confused tourists multiple times, and they keep a stack of actual paper maps (remember those?) at the front desk. If you want to be in the center of everything Amsterdam offers without paying premium prices, this place delivers on that promise.

What Our Guests Say
A great basic place to stay in fantastic location. Great breakfast. Lots of food options. Good coffee.
What could be improved: Nothing. All was basic but good.
Suited our needs Excellent
What could be improved: Location
Very good The beds were super comfortable. Breakfast was yummy and self-serve, which I liked. The location was excellent and close to Amsterdam Central Station. The add on of being able to get a taxi from the airport for free was a very nice touch. The bathroom was spacious.
What could be improved: The room we had was on the smaller size
Great value for money. Breakfast good staff very friendly would use again. Great location, easy access to train station as going to Dutch GP. Rooms good size and had everything we needed. Staff very friendly and helpful
What could be improved: Steal beam sticking into the room at end of the beds from above window but we were at the top floor.
Very good location was exceptional and the staff were so kind and helpful.
Clean and tidy, great location Property was very central and clean, staff were friendly and breakfast was good. Would stay again
What could be improved: That we got a message day before arrival about a deposit of £50 if was more than 4 was £100. Not explanation what it was for just kinda expecte. Came as a shock and if you are paying on arrival, you have to pay the 1st night as a holding deposit upto 2 weeks before. But then the full amount on arrival any way and wait for your deposit to be returned rather than it just be deducted, from the overall bill.
Very relaxing 4 day break 😌 Lovely spacious room... 2 single beds and a bath .... with a balcony ..room 330
What could be improved: First night was a little box room for myself and my 20 year old son double bed wasn't ideal ...
Great location near Amsterdam central station. I had full week conferences to attend so it was just opposite my venue. Location and commute options
What could be improved: Lifts
Pleasant little hotel but beware: Only one coffee machine! The location a few blocks from the train station is very convenient. The breakfast is also good. . .
What could be improved: They only have one coffee machine and it was not working for much of one morning which is ok, machine can fail. However, they had no backup plan (eg simple filter coffee or even hot water and instant). This is poor planning. I was told “we are a small hotel” implying they can’t afford a backup filter coffee machine. This is always a very poor excuse especially because one of their staff members spent over an hour getting the machine working again which clearly was not a good use of resources.
Very good The staff was very pleasant . Room was nice breakfast was good.
What could be improved: It was a bit warm in the room and the tub very difficult to get into.
