First Impressions
Walking up to The Concert Hotel on De Lairessestraat, you immediately get the sense that this three-star property knows exactly what it’s doing. It’s tucked into one of those classic Amsterdam streets in Oud Zuid where the buildings have character but aren’t trying too hard to impress tourists. The entrance is understated — no flashy signage or marble lobbies — just clean lines and that distinctly Dutch approach to hospitality that feels genuine rather than performative. The hotel’s sophisticated design reflects the neighborhood’s refined aesthetic while maintaining an approachable atmosphere.
The Oud Zuid Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location in Amsterdam — you’re in Oud Zuid, which honestly feels like where actual Amsterdammers live and work. The Concertgebouw is practically around the corner, and you can walk to the Van Gogh Museum in about ten minutes without fighting through the crowds near Centraal Station. The tree-lined streets here have that residential charm, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. I mean, couples rate this spot 8.9 out of 10, and after spending time in the area, I totally get why. The neighborhood offers an authentic Amsterdam experience with easy access to cultural attractions.
Your Room and Comfort
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — you know how some hotels cram furniture into small spaces and it feels claustrophobic? That’s not the case here. Everything has its place, the bed was actually comfortable (not just hotel-comfortable), and the bathroom was modern without being sterile. The windows open properly too, which is something I always appreciate in European hotels. It’s not going to blow you away with special touches, but it delivers on the basics really well. The attention to detail in the room layout maximizes both comfort and functionality.
Morning Routine
The buffet breakfast setup works better than you’d expect for a three-star place. They’ve got the Dutch staples covered — good bread, proper cheese, decent coffee — plus enough international options that you won’t feel limited. The breakfast room gets nice morning light, and the staff doesn’t hover but they’re around when you need something. I actually found myself lingering over coffee here, which doesn’t always happen when I’m rushing to see the sights. The relaxed morning atmosphere sets a positive tone for exploring the city.
Why Guests Love It
What really strikes me about The Concert Hotel is how it manages to feel both local and tourist-friendly without leaning too heavily in either direction. You’re staying in a neighborhood where people actually live, but you can still walk to the major museums and attractions without much hassle. The staff seems to understand that travelers want recommendations beyond the obvious tourist spots — they pointed me toward a great local café that I never would have found otherwise. For the price point and location, it’s honestly hard to argue with the value here. The hotel offers comfortable accommodations with excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere that keeps guests coming back. This perfect balance of authenticity and accessibility makes it an ideal choice for discerning travelers.

What Our Guests Say
Great location for museums. Quiet, great staff...and even has a small elevator. The bed was great - I slept like a log every night.
It is a value hotel and I would gladly revisit and stay at this hotel The location was perfect close to everything. The room was very clean considering that is a budget hotel.
Most of all the staff was very friendly and we left the luggage there for a few hours before check in.
What could be improved: Even though the hotel was clean, the reception area was crammed, very little space to go up and down to the room.
Amsterdam RAI visit Staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and spacious particularly by Amsterdam standards. Location is excellent, right in the middle of the Museum district if you are there for pleasure. I was going to the RAI which is just 25 min easy walk.
Great location with great service Location and amazing staff that make us very welcome. Extremely helpful, pleasant and super kind young lady at the reception.
What could be improved: Few Staines on old couch
Friendly small hotel in excellent location Location excellent, staff very friendly and helpful, room clean and breakfast good
Very good Close to restaurants and the Van Gogh museum.
What could be improved: No air conditioner.
I had a good experience and the staff were super friendly. The location was great. The bus to the airport is just around the corner and it is close to museums and attractions.
What could be improved: The beds are really small and tend to shift around because they are light. Reception are is quite small.
Pleasant stay The location was very good and the surrounding area was quiet at night. Rooms cleaned every day. Bathroom was a wet room with a great shower.
What could be improved: The bathroom had some periods of it smelling odd. Walls are thin and with people with a young child crying it didn't help with your sleep. Decor a little tatty in places.
Superb Position is very good for museums, Concertgebouw, airport and trams. Breakfast good also
What could be improved: Burn mark on upholstered chair needs to be repaired.
Shower screen does not stop water getting all over the floor.
Good Excellent location. Close to major museums. A great selection of restaurants nearby. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: Single room was very cramped. Sink was so tiny it was barely usable. Everything felt cramped…reception area, room.
