First Impressions
Walking into Best Western Amsterdam, you immediately notice how the three-star property manages to feel both modern and welcoming without trying too hard. The lobby has that clean, efficient vibe you’d expect from the Best Western brand, but there’s something distinctly Dutch about the way everything’s arranged — practical yet thoughtful. I mean, you can tell this isn’t trying to be the fanciest hotel in Amsterdam, but it’s clearly run by people who actually care about getting the details right.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about staying in Slotervaart — you’re not in the tourist chaos of the city center, which honestly can be a blessing. The hotel sits on Voorburgstraat, and while it might sound far from everything, Amsterdam’s tram system makes it surprisingly easy to reach the main attractions. What I really appreciated was having private parking available, because let’s be real, finding a parking spot in Amsterdam can be an absolute nightmare. The neighborhood feels authentically local, and couples seem to particularly love this area (the ratings back this up), probably because it offers that perfect balance of accessibility without the constant tourist crowds.
The Rooms
The rooms are exactly what you’d hope for from a well-managed three-star hotel — clean, comfortable, and designed with actual functionality in mind. Nothing feels cramped or afterthought-ish, which can be rare in Amsterdam where space is always at a premium. The beds are genuinely comfortable, and there’s enough storage space that you won’t be living out of your suitcase for your entire stay. You know what struck me? The attention to lighting — there are actually enough outlets where you need them, and the curtains properly block out light when you want to sleep in.
Breakfast Experience
The breakfast setup here is honestly impressive for a hotel at this level. They’ve got the continental basics covered, but what sets it apart is the genuine effort to accommodate different dietary needs — vegetarian options that aren’t just an afterthought, plus gluten-free choices that actually look appetizing. The buffet format works well, and the quality feels fresh rather than like it’s been sitting under heat lamps forever. I found myself looking forward to breakfast each morning, which doesn’t always happen at three-star properties.
Why Guests Love It
This hotel works because it doesn’t oversell itself — it just delivers consistently on what matters most to travelers. The 7.8 rating reflects exactly what you experience: solid comfort, reliable service, and thoughtful touches that make your stay smoother. For couples especially, there’s something appealing about having a peaceful base where you can actually relax between exploring the city. The private parking alone saves you both money and stress, and being slightly outside the center means you get better value while still having easy access to everything Amsterdam offers. It’s the kind of place you’d confidently recommend to friends without any caveats.

What Our Guests Say
Superb What could be improved: The self check in and the double payment for breakfast.
Very good What could be improved: Very very very long to register.... The system was complicated lots of people were stuck ... it took more than 1 hour to take my key...
It was great, easy access to the city centre via tram Location and cleanliness was great
What could be improved: Nothing, no complaints
Nice stay Very clean and cozy rooms, comfy beds and coffee/tea available in the room for free. The rooms were cleaned daily and towels substituted too. The staff was very friendly too. Tram and metro reachable in 10min walk
What could be improved: Walls are a little thin, you can hear noises from other rooms
Very good It was an unexpected stay in Amsterdam as we missed our connecting flight due to previous flight delays. The room was clean, tidy and nice, however, when we arrive at around midnight for check-in, there were maybe 100 people queuing in the lobby, probably are people who missed their connecting flight as well. There are 4 self check-in machines, however staff didn’t help at all. Some people occupied the machines for a long time but refused to pay for whatever reasons, and don’t let others to use for checking in.
The breakfast was ok-ish, I would recommend to have breakfast elsewhere if you have a better option.
What could be improved: We stayed in room 409, there is unfortunately a motorway right out of the window, constant traffic noise. We stay just one night for catching our rebooked flight next day, so it was ok.
Good mid range hotel choice Good sized room
Mini fridge
Coffee tea maker
Hotel 5 minutes from Westlandgracht Line 2 tram
Very clean
Albert Heijn and Lidl stores 5 minutes from hotel
Hotel generally is not noisy
Friendly staff and efficient check in
What could be improved: Second night of stay there seemed to be noise from room above. Probably just inconsiderate guests. From previous stays the Best Western is usually quite .
Minor traffic noise from motorway which seems to be busy both day and night .
Very good It was the most competitive hotel we could booked at the short time frame to book. There is a tram station nearby, about 7 minutes walking distance, there are some fast food and supermarket nearby. Room are clean in general.
What could be improved: Acoustic is not very good, you can hear people above us. Our window is facing the hotel inside courtyard where people can see directly into our room, so we kept the curtain closed mostly.
Decent hotel with small rooms A few mins walk to the tram station. Grocery store is one block away.
What could be improved: Room was very small
Excellent will be back Pizza vending machine, friendly staff. Rooms were spacious
What could be improved: Absolutely nothing
Beautiful place to recover after a very long journey It was quite and spaced, also comfy beds and pillows. Very tasty food and good quality A lot of variety and options at the breakfast
What could be improved: The shower was without cabin and water was going everywhere but it was good. Not too bad after all
