First Impressions
When I first pulled up to B&B Zunderdorp, I’ll be honest — I wasn’t sure what to expect from this four-star spot in Amsterdam Noord. The area feels refreshingly different from the tourist-packed center, and that’s actually what makes this place so appealing. You’re staying in what feels like a real Amsterdam neighborhood, where locals cycle past on their way to work and the pace is just… calmer. The building itself has that understated Dutch charm — nothing flashy, but everything feels thoughtfully done.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Amsterdam Noord that most people don’t realize until they visit — it’s incredibly well-connected despite feeling like you’re away from it all. The free ferry across the IJ takes maybe ten minutes, and honestly, that short boat ride becomes part of the daily rhythm you’ll actually look forward to. I mean, you’re getting these great views of the city skyline every time you head into the center. Plus, there’s free private parking right on site, which is basically gold in Amsterdam — you know how impossible (and expensive) parking can be in the main tourist areas.
The Room Experience
My room was exactly what you’d want from a quality B&B — clean lines, comfortable bed, and those little touches that show someone actually cares about the guest experience. The space felt modern but not sterile, if that makes sense. What really stood out was how quiet everything was at night — after spending time in the bustling Jordaan or near Leidseplein, the peaceful atmosphere here was such a relief. The rating of 9.6 from couples makes total sense because there’s something genuinely romantic about the tranquil setting.
Breakfast & Morning Routine
The continental breakfast hits all the right notes without trying to be something it’s not. Fresh bread, good coffee, local cheeses — you know, the kind of spread that actually fuels you for a day of exploring rather than just looking pretty on Instagram. I found myself taking my time in the mornings here, which doesn’t always happen when you’re trying to cram everything into a short trip. The hosts clearly know what they’re doing, and there’s this relaxed efficiency to how everything runs.
Why Guests Love It
Look, if you want to be stumbling out of brown cafés at 2 AM in the Red Light District, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you’re after that sweet spot between authentic Amsterdam living and easy access to all the main attractions, B&B Zunderdorp really delivers. The 9.4 location rating from recent guests tells the whole story — you get the best of both worlds without the noise, crowds, and inflated prices of staying right in the center. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re experiencing the real Amsterdam, not just the tourist version of it.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Amsterdam before autumn brings golden leaves, pumpkin soups, and cozy canal reflections.

What Our Guests Say
Can’t wait to go back Our hosts were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The place was spotless and had everything I could ask for.
Exceptional Great spot, just short drive and ride from Amsterdam.
Amazing place! It was the highlight of our stay in the Netherlands! One of the best accommodations we have stayed in in general! The breakfast is amazing and you can collect your own eggs from the barn. It is in a quite location, which is perfect when you want to relax after going to Amsterdam. They offer also parking spots (for free). The hosts were super friendly and welcoming. They also shared some information regarding how/where to park in Amsterdam and how to move around. The communication before our arrival was also very good. We definitely will stay there again!
We loved our stay. Very clean and comfortable studio apartment in a relaxing countryside location that is just a few minutes drive or bike ride into Amsterdam. The hosts were kind and the room was generously furnished with breakfast food, coffee and tea. Would definitely stay there again, but for longer!
What could be improved: Nothing
Like at home by A’dam ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Everything was simply perfect. ❤️
What could be improved: Absolutely nothing can I here mention. 🙂
Would highly recommend to anyone. Perfect rural destination only a 10 minute bike ride from the train station and then another 2 stop train ride to Amsterdam. Magnificent accommodation and hosts.
Everything was amazing 🤩 Our BnB Review: 10/10
From the moment we stepped inside, we felt less like guests and more like we had just walked into the cover of a Dutch design magazine. 🇳🇱✨ Everything was spotless – seriously, you could have performed surgery on the kitchen counter (though we didn’t, because there was a shiny Bosch hob waiting for us). The space is not only sparkling clean but also cleverly designed: a Nespresso machine ☕, Grohe fittings 🚿, and more power outlets than our entire home combined. The bed was heavenly, and even the sofa bed was so comfortable it deserves its own fan club. We were three people, yet everyone slept like royalty 👑. The only tiny “complaint”: the shower head could have used a little more pressure – but hey, that just made us feel like we were saving the planet 🌍.
Breakfast here is a daily delight. 🥐🍳 Every afternoon, when the rooms are serviced, Karen and Wilco discreetly restock the fridge and cupboards so that everything is ready for the next morning. That way, you can prepare your breakfast whenever you like – no rushing, no fighting for the last croissant, just peace, coffee, and your own rhythm. And the highlight: collecting fresh eggs straight from the hens outside. 🐔🥚 Honestly, who needs a five-star hotel buffet when you can have “hen-to-pan” eggs that taste out of this world?
The hosts themselves – Karen and Wilco – are the very definition of hospitality 🌟. Karen welcomed us with such a detailed introduction that we didn’t have a single question left. They even prepared a binder full of local tips and tricks – basically better than Google. They were always just a quick WhatsApp away 📱, ready to help with anything from cold drinks to travel advice, and even warned us in advance about a road closure before we arrived. When we showed up as three instead of two? No problem – just a small extra fee at checkout. Flexible, kind, and genuinely caring.
What could be improved: Nothing
Absolutely fantastic B&B, super friendly hosts. Very clean and well-equipped room. We lacked for nothing. For the children, the goats, chickens and the two. Donkeys were an absolute hit. Thank you Karen and Wilco for your hospitality.
What could be improved: -
The hosts Wilko & Karen are a lovely couple and easy to chat with. They provide a binder in the rooms with loads of Lovely location in the countryside, slightly north of Amsterdam with a short drive to the cheap carparks and free foot or bike ferry to central Amsterdam.
Goats and donkeys in the fields outside and hens the coup where you can collect your own eggs for breakfast every morning.
Bread, cheese and chicken ham and other items provided in the accommodation.
Good parking, and possibility to charge your EV if you have a chat with Wilko.
What could be improved: Nothing that I didn’t like about the property.
Everything was wonderful Everything was wonderful. The children were very happy. The natural surroundings and tranquility were fantastic. It has become a truly family-friendly place.
