The building itself has this industrial-chic vibe that fits perfectly with the whole Oud-West neighborhood — honestly, it’s like someone took a piece of Amsterdam’s creative energy and turned it into a place you can actually stay.

Here’s what I love about this spot: you’re right in the heart of one of Amsterdam’s coolest areas, but it doesn’t feel touristy at all. The famous De Hallen complex (that’s where the name comes from) is literally next door — this old tram depot that’s been transformed into this amazing cultural hub with food halls, markets, and cinema. You know what’s great? You can grab breakfast at one of the local cafés, then walk to Vondelpark in about ten minutes, or hop on a tram to the city center.
The Apartment Experience
This four-star property gets the apartment concept just right. Each unit feels like you’re staying in someone’s well-designed Amsterdam home rather than a hotel room. The kitchen setup is actually functional — I mean, you can make a proper meal here, not just heat up leftovers. The living spaces have these high ceilings and big windows that flood everything with natural light, which is pretty essential during those gray Amsterdam days.
What Sets It Apart
The design aesthetic here is spot-on modern Dutch — clean lines, natural materials, but warm and lived-in rather than sterile. What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to soundproof everything; despite being in a lively area, the apartments are surprisingly quiet at night. The building itself has character too — you can see hints of its industrial past in the architecture, but everything’s been updated with contemporary touches that actually work.

Look, if you want the full Amsterdam experience without staying in some cramped canal house or generic chain hotel, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly. The neighborhood gives you authentic local life — there’s a weekend market right around the corner, plus some of the city’s best new restaurant spots within walking distance. And having your own space with a proper living area means you can actually relax and spread out after a day of exploring, which is something you really appreciate after you’ve done the whole cramped hotel room thing a few times.

Perfect stay in Amsterdam. Will definitely re-visit again The location! Its near to supermarket, a lot choices of culinary and apartment well equipt with kitchen and cooking utilities for 2 persons. It has nespresso machine and once again: i really love the unit apartment. Feels like home. I will stay here again everytime i visit amsterdam.de hallen neighbourhood is wonderfull
What could be improved: Nothing
Local vibes and tons of space It is in a very cool location near a food hall and tons of shopping. You have so much space it feels like you can really spread out. The space is basically 3 stories with the front door leading upstairs to the living room with the bedroom on the third floor. Its nice!
What could be improved: I could be critical of only the lack of blackout curtains behind the bed. The shutters only block like 75% of the light so it gets pretty bright. If youre a light sleeper bring a sleep mask. This does not effect the rating though, its still 10/10 for the price we paid.

Lovely Apartment, But... A Few Things to Know Before Booking My stay at Apartments De Hallen was absolutely fantastic! The apartment was exceptional, it had everything I could possibly need during my trip. Seriously, you name it, and it was there! From a fully equipped kitchen to comfortable bedding and even little extras that made it feel like a home away from home. The location was perfectly close enough to explore the city. What really stood out to me was how clean and well-maintained everything was. The space felt fresh, modern, and very welcoming. If I ever return to Amsterdam, I wouldn’t hesitate to book here again. Highly recommend
What could be improved: First off, the pin location in my booking sent me to the wrong place - the apartment building instead of their actual check-in desk (which was a 2-minute walk away). I ended up standing there with my bags looking confused until I called them a couple of times and figure it out. Not the end of the world, but a bit annoying when you first arrive.
And the parking, €65 per day! I knew Amsterdam wasn't cheap, but that still hurt. When I asked the front desk lady about it (maybe hoping for some cheaper alternatives), she just shrugged and said "Well, this is Amsterdam, everything here is expensive" in that tone that makes you feel dumb for asking. A little customer service training might help there.
Nothing deal-breaking, but these things do make a difference in the overall experience.
Amazing Amsterdam Stay This space was amazing. Loved the loft style layout. It was really cool going up and down the stairs. The bed was amazingly comfortable - best few nights of sleep a couple of weary travellers had had in a while! The surrounding neighbourhood was also really great - all the best speciality coffee shops a short walk away. Lot 61 was definitely a favourite and that was literally right outside our door. The apartment for what we got, was also excellent value for money. I would definitely stay here again next time we visit Amsterdam.
What could be improved: Kitchen was a little under equipped but in saying that, a pot and a pan was all we needed anyway. We also couldn't find the apartment first time by ourselves however, a lady from reception kindly walked us to the front door.
This was a very comfy, solid place to stay, and there was a lot to see within walking distance. The people at the reception desk were very friendly.
