First Impressions
Walking up to AmsterHome Hotel on P.C. Hooftstraat, you might actually walk past it if you’re not paying attention — and that’s sort of the charm. This three-star boutique spot sits quietly among some seriously upscale shops, looking more like a sophisticated townhouse than your typical tourist hotel. The entrance is understated, which I honestly appreciated after seeing so many flashy hotel lobbies around Amsterdam.
Location Perks
Here’s what nobody tells you about staying in Oud Zuid — you’re basically in Amsterdam’s equivalent of SoHo, but without the tourist chaos. P.C. Hooftstraat is the main shopping drag (think high-end boutiques), but step onto any side street and you’ll find actual locals going about their day. The Vondelpark is literally a three-minute walk away, which means you can grab coffee and sit by the pond before the tour groups arrive. The tram connections are fantastic too — you can get to Central Station in about fifteen minutes.
The Room Experience
My room was smaller than what you’d get at a chain hotel, but it was designed really thoughtfully. Everything felt intentional — the built-in desk, the way the bathroom was tucked away, even the lighting. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the windows actually open, which is surprisingly rare these days. You won’t find a minibar or fancy amenities, but there’s something refreshing about the simplicity.
Daily Rhythms
The breakfast setup is pretty basic — think continental style in a cozy ground-floor space that doubles as a lounge. What I liked was that it felt more like eating at someone’s home than a hotel restaurant. The staff knows regulars by name, and you’ll often hear conversations in Dutch at nearby tables. There’s no parking on-site, but honestly, having a car in this part of Amsterdam would be more trouble than it’s worth anyway.
Why Guests Love It
AmsterHome Hotel works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It’s a solid, well-located base that lets Amsterdam be the star of your trip. The staff genuinely cares about your experience — they’ll draw you maps, recommend their favorite brown cafés, and remember your coffee preference. For travelers who want to feel like temporary locals rather than tourists passing through, this place hits the sweet spot between comfort and authenticity.

What Our Guests Say
Great Location was great, very quiet neighborhood, clean apartment, very friendly staff, the room was big enough for two people.
Excellent location, very nice room at a reasonable price Located in the corner of Museum quarter this Hotel provides you an excellent base if you want to visit Rijks, Van Gogh, or take a nice walk in Vondelpark and access downtown by foot in a matter of minutes. Modern pin code based building and room access helps Travelers to go around the town without need to put a big room key somewhere. Staff has been really nice and helpful, room has been always clean, AC helped to sleep well during the very hot days of my travel.
What could be improved: Might be a personal preference but mattress has been to soft for me and having more than 2 coffee capsules would have been nice.
Very nice place surrounded by luxury brand boutiques for shopping! Very spacious and clean room in a good location. Feels safe with the unique password even for the entrance to building.
What could be improved: Could have given two bottles of water 🙃
Small 3 star hotel without breakfast availibility. Great location.
Clean.
What could be improved: No breakfast available. Room is not so big.
It was good Location was perfect, it was quiet but close to everything.
The room didn’t have a mirror other than the sink mirror.
I had nowhere to hang my coat.
There was no door to the toilet/shower in case you’re not staying solo.
Great hotel for tourism The location was great! Everything looked like the pictures. We were able to check in a little bit earlier with no added fee.
Minor thing: The right side bed socket is not working and I couldn't figure out how to operate the switch between shower and handheld shower
Great location, comfortable, affordable Great location and outlook from the room. Good bathroom and facilities, comfortable bed.
What could be improved: Entrance a bit cramped, keypad on street door a bit slow/laggy, some of the room interior decor a bit makeshift
An excellent place to stay in the museum quarter & right on the high-end shopping street The location is perfect for the museum quarter of the city. The room was large, comfortable & very clean. Also, the hotel is right on the high-end shopping street with Hermes, Gucci, LV etc.
What could be improved: No real luggage holding area or room when you need to leave luggage for any length of time. You can leave bags at reception, but that is really just an open area, and when out of hours (4pm to 10am) no one is there to look after the bags or lock them away for safety.
Superb Great location walking distance to everything, hotel was spotless clean, the bed was very comfortable, would stay here again.
What could be improved: There was no hot water from the shower, which was disappointing only getting lukewarm water from the shower.
Very good Good location
High internet for work
