First Impressions
Walking into Albert Cuyp Studio feels refreshingly honest — it’s exactly what it promises to be, nothing more, nothing less. Located right on Albert Cuijpstraat in the heart of Amsterdam, this three-star spot sits among the bustling energy of the famous Albert Cuyp Market. The building has that classic Amsterdam charm with tall windows and brick facades, though you can tell it’s been thoughtfully converted for modern travelers.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about this area — you’re literally steps from one of Europe’s largest street markets. The Albert Cuyp Market runs Monday through Saturday, and honestly, it’s incredible for fresh stroopwafels, vintage finds, and people-watching. The Heineken Experience is a ten-minute walk if you’re into that sort of thing, and the Museum Quarter with Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum is surprisingly close. You know what’s really convenient though? The tram stops right at your doorstep, so getting anywhere in the city is effortless.
The Studio Experience
The room itself is compact but cleverly designed — I mean, this is Amsterdam, so space comes at a premium. What impressed me was how they maximized every square meter without making it feel cramped. There’s a small but functional kitchenette where you can prepare simple meals, which actually saves you quite a bit of money in a city where dining out adds up quickly. The bed was comfortable enough, and the bathroom, while not huge, had everything you need including a decent shower.
Practical Details
The studio comes with free Wi-Fi that actually works well — I was able to video call home without issues. Cleaning service isn’t daily, but for a studio setup, that’s pretty standard and keeps costs reasonable. There’s no on-site restaurant, but with the market downstairs and dozens of cafes within a two-block radius, you’re hardly lacking options. The neighborhood gets lively during market hours but quiets down nicely in the evenings.
Why Guests Love It
What really works here is the balance of location, price, and functionality. You’re staying in one of Amsterdam’s most vibrant neighborhoods without paying hotel prices for amenities you might not even use. The 7.9 rating makes sense — it’s not trying to be fancy, but it delivers exactly what budget-conscious travelers need. If you want to experience Amsterdam like a local rather than a tourist, and you don’t mind a more independent style of accommodation, Albert Cuyp Studio hits that sweet spot perfectly.
Best hotels in Amsterdam blend canal-view balconies, design interiors, and farm-to-table breakfast spreads.

What Our Guests Say
Nightmare Localization
What could be improved: It was a nightmare.
Not clean at all
Bed bugs in the bed, the walls and some furniture.
The owner did not reply to any of my calls and messages.
Avoid it.
Great apartment in a great location. Expect some street noise and challenge with building’s stairway The location of the apartment is excellent, right in the middle of the vibrant Albert Cuyp Market. Many food, drink, clothing, and other stalls are just steps away, along with plenty of cafés and restaurants. Another plus is that the tram stop to Central Station is only a three-minute walk. As Jews, we also found the location convenient, as it’s very close to Bet Chabad, with a kosher restaurant and kosher grocery on the same block.
The room itself was nice and clean, well-equipped, and having a kitchen and fridge was very useful.
The hosts, Angelo and Denice, were very kind, and whenever we raised concerns or requests, they addressed them promptly.
What could be improved: Although we had a nice stay, a few things did bother us:
-Ascending and descending the stairs was quite a challenge, especially when we first arrived with our large bags. The stairway is very steep and narrow, and carrying heavy items up to the third floor was exhausting. Because the stairs are so narrow, it was also difficult to pass when someone else from the building was coming the opposite way. Unfortunately, there is no elevator in the building.
-The market below was quite noisy. On some mornings, we were woken up early by the loud sounds of vendors dragging and setting up their booths, which made our mornings less pleasant. In addition, the curtains were hard to close completely, so sunlight came through and disturbed our sleep.
-The price was quite expensive, even considering the good value we received. More than that, we had to pay most of it in cash, which was inconvenient for us.
Adequate in good location but not that memorable Self contained,
good location and
included a washing machine
What could be improved: The 3 flights of very steep steps (hard with heavy suitcases)
The mattress and pillows were lumpy
It was a bit run down
Good good location
What could be improved: Is not possible to use the kitchen (no hob), the bathroom is very small (difficult to use the sink), improvised apartment aspect, the apartment is on the third floor, has steep stairs, and is difficult to carry luggage.
Superb Location was great. Angelo was very welcoming
Excellent place to stay - thoroughly recommend! Excellent stay here - lovely place, great hosts.
What could be improved: I wouldn’t change a thing !
Exceptional Great location right on the market street and close to the tram stop
Superb Fantastic apartment in a lovely neighbourhood. Great location for getting around Amsterdam. Would definitely stay here again.
Exceptional Nice and warm host, good location, good apartment for 2 people.
What could be improved: The stairs are steep.
Very good The location is perfect, in an interesting neighborhood and close to the center. The studio had all we needed and was very clean. Would definitely go back for future stays.
What could be improved: Mattress was rather soft for my liking, but it is a matter of preferences.
