YOTEL Amsterdam
First Impressions Walking into YOTEL Amsterdam, you immediately know this isn't your typical Dutch hotel.
First Impressions
Walking into YOTEL Amsterdam, you immediately know this isn’t your typical Dutch hotel. The lobby feels more like a tech startup’s headquarters — all sleek surfaces, purple lighting, and robots (yes, actual robots) handling luggage storage. It’s positioned in Amsterdam Noord, which honestly took me a minute to warm up to since it’s across the IJ river from the main tourist areas, but that ferry ride becomes part of the charm.
The Tech-Forward Experience
Everything here screams efficiency in the best possible way. Check-in happens at these futuristic kiosks that work surprisingly well, though there’s always staff around if you need help. Your room key is actually a wristband — I thought it was gimmicky at first, but you know what? Never having to dig through your bag for a key card is actually brilliant. The four-star rating makes perfect sense when you see how thoughtfully they’ve integrated technology without making it feel cold or impersonal.
Smart Rooms That Actually Work
The rooms are compact but incredibly well-designed — think airplane business class meets Scandinavian minimalism. Every inch serves a purpose, from the bed that converts into a sofa to the rainfall shower that’s surprisingly spacious for such a small footprint. The motorized bed is fun to play with (admit it, you’ll press those buttons), and the mood lighting actually helps with jet lag. There’s no kitchen, but the tech hub has everything you need to charge your devices and the air conditioning works perfectly — not always a given in Amsterdam.
Location and Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Amsterdam Noord — it’s having a moment. Yes, you’re a 15-minute ferry ride from Centraal Station, but those ferries run constantly and they’re free. Plus, you’re walking distance from some of Amsterdam‘s coolest new spots like the A’DAM Tower and NDSM Wharf. The area feels more like where locals actually hang out rather than where tourists get their photos taken. There’s covered parking if you’re driving, which is rare and valuable in this city.
Why Guests Love It
The real win here is that YOTEL Amsterdam doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It’s not pretending to be a historic canal house hotel — instead, it’s unapologetically modern and functional. The 24-hour grab-and-go market in the lobby saves you when everything else is closed, and the communal spaces actually encourage you to meet other travelers. The restaurant serves decent food, though you’ll want to venture out to explore Noord’s growing food scene. For the price point and the experience, it’s exactly what Amsterdam needed — a hotel that feels as forward-thinking as the city itself.

What Our Guests Say
Very good What could be improved: The bed coverings were impossibly hot! Why not simple blankets?
Practicality Super practical, small rooms but everything is well thought to make it comfy.
Very good The hotel had everything we needed: great restaurants, convenient self-service refreshments, and a comfortable room. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Overall, it was a clean, well-run hotel with excellent service and a pleasant atmosphere.
What could be improved: I didn’t really dislike anything, though the bathroom door could be improved — something a bit more soundproof would be nice. The only minor downside was that the hotel is a bit away from the downtown area, so we used Uber quite often.
Superb Location is a little further away from the city than we thought (that was on us) but not too far from the free ferry. Amazing facilities at the hotel - the gym was a welcome surprise. Great space in the room and staff were all friendly!
Nice but rooms needs kettle the fact that the rooms are smart rooms with goo lighting deveices
What could be improved: Lack of writing table and boiling kettle for tea is not a nice experience
A little out of the way but in a peaceful neighbourhood Delicious breakfast with a wide selection of fresh products. Helpful staff. Comfortable bed.
What could be improved: There is little space for storing clothes and no hooks for hanging towels. Also, the carpeting must have been thoroughly cleaned a long time ago.
Great convenient hotel if you don't mind walk a bit to the ferry Room and breakfast were great! Really cozy outside party zone near the canal.
Very clean and Modern. That it was modern and clean. Friendly staff.
What could be improved: Need tea and coffee available in the rooms.
Nice hotel for a short stay in the city, good value for money Nice room and comfortable bed, easy self check-in on arrival. Good value for money compared to the other hotels in Amsterdam
What could be improved: Only thing is that there was no coffee in the room, had to be bought downstairs at the cafe area
Superb Helpful staff and we liked the location
What could be improved: The only comment I would make is the floor of our shower was very slippery and we had to use a hand towel to provide better footing. One other item- I would suggest installing one or two hooks to hang up towels.
