First Impressions
Walking up to XO Hotels Blue Tower, you immediately notice it’s not trying too hard to be something it isn’t. This four-star property sits in the Bos en Lommer district — honestly, a neighborhood that most tourists completely overlook, which is actually part of its charm. The building has this clean, modern look that feels refreshingly straightforward after seeing so many overly ornate hotel facades in Amsterdam.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I really appreciate about staying here — you’re removed from the tourist chaos but still well-connected. The area feels genuinely Dutch, with local cafes and small shops that aren’t inflated for visitors. You know what’s great? The public transport connections are solid, so getting into the city center takes maybe 15-20 minutes by tram. I mean, you get the authentic Amsterdam experience without paying those crazy canal-district prices.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was… well, exactly what you’d expect from a solid four-star place. Clean lines, comfortable bed, and everything actually works properly (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given). The bathroom was spacious enough that you don’t feel like you’re showering in a closet. What struck me most was how quiet it gets at night — being away from the main tourist strips definitely has its advantages for sleep quality.
Dining & Amenities
The hotel’s restaurant serves decent food, though I’d honestly recommend exploring the neighborhood for dinner — there are some fantastic local spots within walking distance that the front desk staff pointed me toward. Breakfast was solid and straightforward, nothing fancy but it gets the job done. The parking situation is actually manageable here, which is saying something for Amsterdam.
Why Guests Love It
Look, XO Hotels Blue Tower isn’t going to blow you away with over-the-top amenities or Instagram-worthy interiors. What it does is provide a reliable, comfortable base in a part of Amsterdam that feels real. The staff genuinely seems to care about helping you navigate the city, and the 8.2 rating makes sense — it’s the kind of place that consistently delivers what it promises without any unpleasant surprises.

What Our Guests Say
Superb The room was clean, the view nice, the amenities were also good. It was close to supermarkets and the bus and tram lines. We also felt very safe in the hotel. I would recommend it!
Wonderful room, friendly staff. There was constant noise in the hallways throughout the night (on all 3 nights). People Wonderful room, friendly staff.
What could be improved: There was constant noise in the hallways throughout the night (on all 3 nights). People talking loudly, ringing doorbells and slamming doors up until 3am.
Very good The hotel was good value for money. Most rooms in the centre at this price are usually very small. But this one was a good size and the bathroom was quite spacious and beautiful. The staff was friendly and kind. It takes about 15-20 min on a bus to go to the centre. The bus and tram stops are 3 minutes away from the hotel.
Superb The hotel itself was very comfortable. We had a twin room and it had some working space as well as a couple of chairs on the side where you can sit and chill.
It's not close to the city center, but it's easily reachable with public transport within 25-30min, what for me wasn't a problem.
Recommended Cleanness, comfortable beds and space, friendly and helpful staff, safe, refrigerator in the room.
What could be improved: It would be a perfect place if the room had a microwave.
