First Impressions

Walking up to the White Luxury Penthouse in City Centre on Prinsengracht, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a four-star place in the heart of Amsterdam. But you know what? This penthouse completely changed my perspective on canal-side stays. The building itself has that classic Amsterdam charm — tall, narrow, and squeezed between its neighbors like a perfectly fitted puzzle piece.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s the thing about being right on Prinsengracht — you’re literally in the middle of everything that matters. The Anne Frank House is just a few minutes’ walk away, and the Jordaan district (my personal favorite area in the city) is right at your doorstep. I mean, you can grab fresh stroopwafels from the Saturday market at Noordermarkt without even planning for it. The canal views from up there are something else entirely — especially in the evening when those houseboats start lighting up.

The Space

What struck me most about this penthouse was how they managed to feel both spacious and cozy at the same time. The apartment spreads across the top floor, which means you get those incredible slanted ceilings and dormer windows that frame the canal perfectly. The main room flows naturally into the living area, and there’s actually a proper kitchen — not just some tiny corner setup. I spent most mornings making coffee there while watching the boats drift by below.

Living Like a Local

Having your own penthouse space changes how you experience Amsterdam, honestly. Instead of rushing back to a cramped hotel room after dinner, I found myself picking up cheese and wine from the local shops and enjoying them on the little terrace area. The neighbors (mostly locals living in the converted canal houses) gave friendly waves from their windows — it felt more like staying in a real Amsterdam home than just passing through as a tourist. There’s even decent parking nearby, which anyone who’s driven in Amsterdam’s city center will tell you is basically a miracle.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.4 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not trying to be a flashy hotel with a fancy restaurant or spa — instead, it offers something better: an authentic Amsterdam experience with all the comfort you actually need. The combination of being right in the historic center while having your own private space above the canals is pretty hard to beat. Plus, you’re close enough to walk to the Rijksmuseum or hop on a tram to anywhere else, but far enough from the tourist chaos around Dam Square to actually get some sleep.
