First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Villa Yburg, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this four-star property tucked away on a quiet residential street in Amsterdam. The villa sits on Lisdoddelaan, which sounds intimidating but is actually pretty easy to find once you get your bearings. What immediately caught my attention was how the building manages to feel both stately and welcoming — there’s something about the architecture that whispers “boutique hotel” rather than screaming it. The fact that there’s parking right on-site was honestly a relief, because anyone who’s tried to park in Amsterdam knows it can be a nightmare.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s brilliant about this spot? It’s in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, which means you’re away from the tourist chaos but still connected to everything that matters. I mean, couples absolutely love it here — they’re rating the location 9.1 out of 10, and I can see why. The neighborhood has this authentic Dutch residential feel where you’ll see locals cycling to work in the morning and families walking their dogs in the evening. You’re not stumbling over tour groups every five minutes, but the city center is still totally accessible when you want that classic Amsterdam experience.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had this interesting blend of modern comfort and classic Dutch sensibility. Nothing felt overdone or trying too hard — just clean lines, quality furnishings, and those little touches that show someone actually thought about what travelers need. The windows are generous, so you get plenty of natural light during those long summer days (or what passes for light during Amsterdam’s winter months). What I appreciated most was the attention to sound insulation — even though you’re in a residential area, you don’t hear every conversation from the hallway or street noise at night.
Practical Perks
Let me tell you about the things that actually matter when you’re traveling. That free private parking I mentioned? It’s not just a nice-to-have in Amsterdam — it’s practically gold. Most hotels in the city either don’t have parking at all or charge you an arm and a leg for it. The staff genuinely seems to know the area well, so when you ask for directions or recommendations, you get real answers instead of generic tourist suggestions. The 9.2 overall rating starts making sense when you realize it’s these practical details that add up to a really solid stay.
Why Guests Love It
Villa Yburg works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It’s not pretending to be a grand canal-side hotel, and it’s not trying to compete with the big international chains downtown. Instead, it offers something that’s actually harder to find — a genuine Amsterdam experience in a neighborhood where real people live, with all the modern comforts you need and none of the tourist markup. The fact that couples keep coming back and rating their experience so highly tells you everything you need to know about whether this place delivers on its promises.

What could be improved: Nothing.
Superb Marc and his family are very friendly hosts. The accomodation is in a very calm part of Amsterdam, but restaurants and shops are not far away.
We had a good stay at Villa Y burg and we would not hesitate to recommend it The proximity of the tram which got us in the busy city in no time
At night we could enjoy the quiet of the neighborhood
The proximity of the supermarket.
Our host were very helpful ,and checked on us to make sure that we had everything we needed
What could be improved: The only small problem was to have no sink in our room,it would have been handy to wash our hands
Or boil water for tea
However
The bathroom was very nice and clean but you had to get out of the room to access it.
Warmly recommended! Villa Yburg is comfortable, clean and located just a few busstops from the city center. The hosts of the villa are friendly and helpful.
A perfect location for a little getaway & at the same time close to the Amsterdam city center Quiet and cozy accommodation in a nice area close to the water, a perfect location for a little getaway (especially for a couple) to relax and unwind. The room is equipped with a tea kettle and a coffee machine (much appreciated by us!)
Very friendly and helpful hosts, the communication was very smooth and they gave us lots of helpful advice. The city center is super easy to reach by tram, it's just 15 min away. Definitely recommend!
The staff is super polite, helpful and profession. The property is in amazing conditions and súper confortable. The hous The rooms is clean and spacious! With a big window so a lot of natural light comes in. The bathroom was amazing with a bathtub and everything. The bed was very comfortable as well.
What could be improved: It was not clear that this is a room for rent in a proper house, so that was a bit of a surprise, BUT it did not change the fact that our stay was wonderful and very comfortable. We could go in and out as we pleased and the neighborhood was super quiet and nice and relaxing.
Best home away from home. Great location with easy access via the tram to all of the sites. The beds were so comfortable. Marc is such an accommodating host. Entire stay was beyond our expectations.
What could be improved: Loved the entire stay.

Quiet, comfortable, private stay with large bathtub I loved this location. It was 20 minutes by tram from Amsterdam Central Station. The tram ran frequently. It was a very quiet family neighborhood. It felt very private. The entrance is separate from the owners. The owners live upstairs/across the courtyard. They do not come into the rented area except to speak with you or go to their office down the hall (once). The bathroom was not in the room, but it was literally one room over down a short hall. Since the rented area is exclusively for the guest, I had privacy going to and from the bathroom. The rooms in the area are: guest sleeping room and large closet, bathroom, office (they mostly work upstairs when there are guests). The bed was comfortable and the room was large. There was a large closet where I could put my things on shelves. The bathroom was large and had a large bathtub that was great to soak in after a long day of walking.
What could be improved: I couldn't find the doorbell when I arrived. It is to the right of the door hidden by plants. I had to knock on the door to check in.
It was a very pleasant stay. The place is in a quiet and beautiful corner of the city. It provided me with an oasis of calm. Marc went out of the way to ensure an enjoyable stay, always there with friendly greetings and useful advice. The room was elegantly furnished and both the bedroom (with a comfortable bed) and the bathroom were very clean.
