First Impressions
Urban Lodge Hotel sits in Amsterdam’s Westpoort district, and honestly, when I first pulled up, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this industrial area. The building itself has this clean, modern look that feels refreshingly understated — no fancy marble lobby or overwhelming chandeliers. It’s a four-star place that doesn’t try too hard, which I actually appreciated after staying at some overly flashy hotels.
Location Reality Check
Look, I’m not going to sugarcoat this — you’re not walking to the Rijksmuseum from here. Westpoort is Amsterdam’s business district, full of offices and warehouses, but here’s what the travel sites don’t tell you: you’re incredibly close to Amsterdam Centraal by public transport, and there’s something nice about escaping the tourist chaos at the end of the day. The area around Arlandaweg has this quiet, almost residential feel once the office workers head home.
The Room Experience
My room was on the third floor, and I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious it felt. The design leans modern without being cold — think warm wood accents and muted colors that actually help you relax. The bed was genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and they’ve got these blackout curtains that work perfectly if you’re dealing with jet lag. What I really liked was the work area — not just a tiny desk shoved in a corner, but an actual space where you can spread out your laptop.
Daily Rhythms
The breakfast setup runs until 10 AM, and it’s one of those continental spreads that covers the basics well without being elaborate. Fresh bread, decent coffee, and they usually have some local cheese options. The restaurant area doubles as a casual meeting spot throughout the day — I saw plenty of business travelers having informal meetings over coffee. There’s also parking available, which in Amsterdam is basically like finding gold.
Why Guests Actually Choose It
Here’s the thing about Urban Lodge Hotel — it works because it knows what it is. Business travelers love it for the reliable wifi and quiet atmosphere, but I met tourists who chose it specifically to avoid the crowded city center. The staff genuinely seems to care about solving problems rather than just going through the motions. When the metro had delays one morning, the front desk guy actually looked up alternative routes for me without being asked. It’s that kind of place where the service feels real, not scripted.

What Our Guests Say
Very good Good connection to the Center by train.
Overall good hotel. The hotel overall was very clean and the lounge area is so beautiful! The location is very good being a few minutes walking from a train station so very easy to connect to the city centre. There's also a cafe across the street and a brilliant breakfast place next to the train station.
Initially, we had a very spacious room, but we had to be moved to a different one due to an issue with the window, the second was much smaller, but everything is crisp & clean.
Overall its a nice hotel in a very good position and with reasonable prices, but staff definitely need to be a bit more attentive to have rooms ready for the incoming guests rather than keep them waiting.
What could be improved: Unfortunately, our stay didnt start very good as we had to wait a long time for a double room to be ready and no one seemed interested to check us in quicker as we had to go and ask if its ready several times even though we requested a double, not sure in what order they get the room ready. After the long wait, we noticed that the window wasnt closing properly, so we asked staff to look into this and we initially were told that maintenance will fix it that that or maybe tomorrow which obviously wasn't an option as it's really cold during the night and it was very noisy.
The second room we've been moved to didnt have any windows that open because they've had the handles removed and duct tape in place, so you couldnt get fresh air in the room at any point. This is something they should definitely mention or fix the broken windows.
Also, they don't have smart TVs which isn't the end of the world, but should be mentioned.
It's a shame as it's a nice place, but maintained poorly.
Very good value for Amsterdam Very good value)Close from airport.Good size rooms and comfortable beds.Very clean. You can find a microwave on main floor.
What could be improved: Everything was good)
It was worthwhile staying at this hotel; our trip was enjoyable! The hotel was in a good location, very close to the train station and the room was spacious and clean. And, the staff was friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: It would have been great if breakfast and roundtrip airport transportation was included in the hotel booking fee as a matter of convenience.
Nice place good proximity between the airport and the city Clean and modern with nice decor
What could be improved: Parking had additional fees and EV chargers not working
Very good Location, entourage, facilities
Best place to visit Amsterdam and Sloter Park Really friendly staff, no problems
Great value for money Everything was clean, great breakfast and good location (close to train station). Great value for money
What could be improved: Parking was expensive, but convenient, also they have EV chargers.
Despite prohibited smoking, entrance stank of weed, which was horrible for our kids every time we had to go through
Lovely stay in a spotless room. The room was spotless and cleaned daily, hotel itself had a good amount of amenities (including a bike rack), and a gym. The staff were lovely and gave good recommendations/knowledge -- especially of how to get into town.
What could be improved: The location was a bit of a let down, but in all fairness the price was so good this wasn't seen as too big a deal.
Great place in good location. Great location, near station, lovely room with the necessities. It is one stop away from city centre which is ideal as it is not loud. Highly recommend.
