First Impressions
The Manor Amsterdam sits on a tree-lined street in the Oost district, and honestly, you might walk right past it if you’re not looking carefully. It’s housed in this gorgeous 19th-century mansion that feels more like a well-kept secret than a typical hotel. The entrance is understated — no flashy signage or revolving doors — just elegant Dutch architecture that immediately tells you this four-star property takes itself seriously without being stuffy about it.
The Neighborhood Advantage
What I love about the location on Linnaeusstraat is that you’re in real Amsterdam, not tourist Amsterdam. The Oost district has this authentic local vibe — you’ll find yourself sharing sidewalks with people heading to work or walking their dogs, not just other travelers with cameras. It’s about a 15-minute tram ride to the city center, which actually works in your favor because you get to see how locals really live. Plus, there are some fantastic Indonesian restaurants nearby that most guidebooks completely miss.
Inside The Manor
Each room feels like it belongs in someone’s stylish home rather than a chain hotel. The design strikes this perfect balance between historic charm and modern comfort — original moldings and high ceilings paired with updated bathrooms and reliable Wi-Fi. I mean, the beds are genuinely comfortable, and the windows are double-glazed, so you actually get a good night’s sleep. The housekeeping staff clearly takes pride in their work; everything feels fresh and thoughtfully arranged.
Dining and Common Spaces
The Manor’s restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, and while it’s not going to win any Michelin stars, the food is solid and reasonably priced for Amsterdam standards. What’s nice is that breakfast isn’t just a continental spread — they’ll actually cook you eggs the way you want them. The common areas have this relaxed, almost residential feel where you can actually work on your laptop or read without feeling like you’re in a hotel lobby.
Why Guests Love It
You know what really sets The Manor Amsterdam apart? It’s the kind of place where the staff remembers your name after the first day, and they’ll give you directions like a local friend would — including which coffee shop to avoid and where to get the best stroopwafels. The 8.4 rating makes perfect sense when you experience the attention to detail and genuine hospitality. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in Amsterdam, but if you want to feel like you’re staying in a beautifully maintained home in a neighborhood that tourists rarely discover, this is your spot.

What Our Guests Say
Superb Room was spacious with lots of storage; which is great when travelling from overseas with suitcases. Lovely, quiet room. Happy Hour cocktails were terrific and it was lovely sitting out the front of the hotel, enjoying them in a nice setting with tables, shade umbrellas, etc. The gardens across the road are really beautiful. Top location, close to train station.
What could be improved: A few more vegan options for breakfast would have been good.
Very good What could be improved: Very hard to locate car entrance and parking. If you are nes to Amsterdam the driveway looks like a pedestrian sidewalk, thete are no signs. I was cooked after a 7 hr drive and I didnt need the hassle.
Great value for money and would definitely recommend Room was great and spacious
bed was quite comfortable with not too soft of a mattress
Bathroom was clean and water pressure was good and had great hot water
Location is also great, right near oosterpark and some good bakeries
The staff itself was also very nice and welcoming! especially Dmitry
Very good The hotel has great location outside of the touristic area. You get the local feeling of the Amsterdam neighborhood. I love that area. The reception was done by Dimitri, he has a great vibe helping me to settle properly and he explained the history of the place and also gave me valuable indications in the neighborhood.
Comfortable and convenient hotel in Amsterdam. Great location - tram and train stop are close by and there is a large park across the road for those that like an outdoor workout. I found the staff very helpful and friendly too. The bistro that opens in the evening for dinner was also good. Wished we used it more often during our stay.
What could be improved: There was a strange smell in our room whenever we entered. It faded as we remained in the room. The carpets in the main areas were not well maintained, so it cheapened the look of what was a decent looking hotel.
Fall adventure The location was great. Easy access to transit but could easily walk as well. On-site bike rental was very convenient. Staff was very helpful. The neighborhood appeared to be a nice mix of ages with a variety of hotels/apts. The breakfast was excellent, with good hours of availability.
What could be improved: The hotel was not as clean as I expected. The manager quickly sent someone to our room to clean more thoroughly. The carpet in the hallways were dirty. The door to the bathroom had gaps around the frame limiting privacy. We were told there's a major renovation starting in November on the first floor and then top floors down. I'm sure that they will address these issues with this renovation.
Perfect location next to Oosterpark Great location, charming hotel, public transport right around the corner, great coffee places and restaurants in walking distance, bicycles to rent
What could be improved: Bicycles to rent are pretty expensive
Superb Good staff and strategic location
What could be improved: Hotel should have GYM faclities
Very good Great location in a walkable neighborhood, close to center.
Staff was friendly and very accommodating.
Room was comfortable.
What could be improved: Everything was smooth.
Staff very helpful and friendly. Good breakfast, lovely comfy large room The breakfast was good there was a choice of continental or buffet breakfast. There was plenty of choice. The chef Cooked a milk free omelette for me. Would have liked some dairy free options though i.e. yoghurt and milk.
The room was large , the bed was super comfy. Great walk-in shower.
What could be improved: The carpets were grubby in the communal areas on floors 1 and 2.
We specifically chose a hotel with a fridge in the room to keep my husband’s insulin cool. However, on arrival we were told that the fridge was not cool enough and would have to be kept in the hotel’s kitchen fridge. We were told that all the hotels in Amsterdam are the same.
There was a lifted carpet with a metal cover strip which was damaged and sticking up which is a trip hazard.
We originally were provided a room on the second floor but had to reject the room as my husband is disabled and could negotiate the half landing steps up to the room. The hotel was very good and changed our room to one that was ordered originally.
