First Impressions
Walking up to The Little Townhouse on van Ostadestraat, you immediately get why couples fall for this place. It’s tucked into one of those classic Amsterdam canal house buildings — you know, the narrow ones with the steep stairs that make you wonder how they got furniture up there. The entrance feels intimate rather than grand, which honestly sets the tone perfectly for what’s essentially a boutique hideaway in the heart of Amsterdam.
The Neighborhood Charm
This four-star spot sits in De Pijp, and I mean right in the thick of it. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the Albert Cuyp Market, which is fantastic for grabbing fresh stroopwafels or just people-watching on a Saturday morning. The Heineken Experience is close by too, though honestly, the real draw is just wandering these tree-lined streets. Van Ostadestraat itself has this lovely residential feel — it’s not touristy at all, but you’re still super connected to everything that matters.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that perfect Amsterdam townhouse vibe — think exposed beams, tall windows, and just enough modern touches to keep things comfortable without losing the character. The space felt thoughtfully designed rather than cramped, which is saying something for Amsterdam standards. What really struck me was the attention to detail — good lighting for actually reading, decent storage space, and a bathroom that didn’t require contortionist skills to navigate. Every corner reveals careful consideration for guest comfort and aesthetic appeal.
Daily Rhythms
Mornings here have this relaxed pace that just works. There’s no massive restaurant operation, but they’ve got breakfast sorted in a way that feels personal rather than institutional. The staff actually remembers your coffee preference after a day or two, which is one of those small things that makes a difference. You’ll find yourself lingering over breakfast longer than planned — the dining area has these big windows that let in all that gorgeous Amsterdam light. The whole experience feels curated for genuine connection rather than efficiency.
Why Guests Love It
Look, couples rate this place highly for good reason — it’s got that romantic, tucked-away feeling without being isolated from the action. The location really is something special; you’re in a proper Amsterdam neighborhood where locals actually live, but you can still walk to the Rijksmuseum in about fifteen minutes. Recent guests keep mentioning the location in their reviews, and after staying here, I totally get it. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re experiencing real Amsterdam life rather than just passing through the tourist highlights. The whole place has this understated confidence — they know they’ve got something good going, and they don’t need to oversell it. This is where memories are made.
Exploring Amsterdam mixes canal loops, design galleries, and pancake barges drifting past houseboats.

What Our Guests Say
Lovely stay in a great location Lovely, clean place in a great location. De Pijp is a beautiful area, it’s a little journey into the city but we preferred it that way. Very helpful and accommodating host who allowed a late check out and looking after our luggage. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.
What could be improved: I felt the first room is a bit of dead space so more of a large bedroom/studio. Some home comforts would make the other room inviting 😊
Wonderful We loved the apartment. Super spacious, good quality furniture and appliances, well decorated. Super comfortable. I slept so well every night. Having a patio was a nice perk, specially in the summer.
What could be improved: There was one day with construction work but 🤷♀️
Hidden Gem We loved our stay here. The place was spotless and had great facilities. The host Otto was very friendly and welcoming and was their on arrival. The location is great and close to the metro and nearby restaurants/supermarkets. Two stops on the metro and your in the centre! Would definitely come again
What could be improved: Nothing it was perfect.
Nice stay in De Pijp Very nice place ideally located in De Pijp with plenty of nice restaurants and caffee huis in the neighborhood, a minute walk from the metro and the Albert Cuyp market. The host is very helpful and friendly! I’ll definitely go back there in a future trip to Amsterdam.
What could be improved: —
Really comfortable, basic stay, close to city centre with good transport links Comfortable and close to city centre; good public transport routes and also easy to walk.
The property was spotless and had all we needed.
The bath was wonderful!
Otto, the owner was very friendly and extremely helpful, responding to correspondence almost immediately.
What could be improved: I don’t think the description matches the property. It’s not a bed and breakfast, it is a self-catering, self-contained apartment.
There wasn’t any city views and there was no swimming pool. If there is a pool it was not mentioned in the house book or by the host.
Perfect spot to stay and enjoy all that Amsterdam has to offer Perfect location
Great apartment with everything you needed
Close to public transport
Clean
Great Location, clean and comfortable Great Location, Clean and Comfortable
Loved the place and was a great stay Otto was very helpful and went out of his way to help us. The location was very close to trams, restaurants, Aldi, and the Albert Cuyp markets. The house was warm, very quiet with only minor noise upstairs and had a very comfy bed.
What could be improved: A towel to dry dishes and maybe larger coffee mugs?
Very nice place to stay in Amsterdam Very cozy place to stay in Amsterdam! Close to the metro, but also close enough to the city center that you don’t have to use public transport too much. We just walked back and forth every day. Shops and restaurants right outside. Fully equipped kitchen, clean and nice little terrace. Didn’t meet the owners, but they were very friendly and helpful over text. I’ll be back the next time I go to Amsterdam!
What could be improved: Nothing!
Very good Very big apartment.
Very comfortable bed.
Otto is very nice and friendly 👌 he pays extra attention to details.
There is plugs adaptors you can use, iron and iron board, blowdryer, books....
What could be improved: The walls are very thin so you can hear the neighbours a lot. But because the bed is so comfortable I had such a deep sleep every night that I didnt even noticed any noise during the night.
