First Impressions
Walking into The Diamond Amsterdam, you immediately understand why this five-star property commands attention in the heart of the city. The lobby honestly feels like stepping into a jewel box — which makes perfect sense given the name. There’s this understated luxury that doesn’t scream for attention but quietly whispers sophistication, and I mean that in the best possible way.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s brilliant about the location on Kleine-Gartmanplantsoen? It’s tucked away on this quiet little square that most tourists walk right past, but you’re literally two minutes from the chaos of Leidseplein and three from the shopping madness of Kalverstraat. I actually discovered this when I got slightly lost looking for the hotel — ended up finding this peaceful pocket of Amsterdam I never knew existed. The Concertgebouw is practically next door if you’re into classical music, and the Vondelpark entrance is close enough for morning runs.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was what I’d call “quietly opulent” — marble bathroom with heated floors (essential in Dutch winters), and these massive windows that flood everything with natural light. What struck me most was the attention to detail: the bedside controls actually work intuitively, the minibar doesn’t require a engineering degree to open, and the blackout curtains completely block out those bright Amsterdam summer nights. The beds are seriously comfortable too, which matters when you’ve been walking cobblestones all day.
Dining & Amenities
The restaurant downstairs serves this interesting fusion of Dutch ingredients with international techniques — I had this incredible dish with North Sea crab that I’m still thinking about months later. Breakfast is extensive without being overwhelming, and they actually make proper coffee, not the watery hotel stuff you sometimes get. There’s also a small but well-equipped fitness center and a spa that’s perfect for unwinding after museum marathons, though honestly, the neighborhood itself is so walkable you might not need the gym.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about The Diamond Amsterdam — it manages to feel both luxurious and approachable at the same time. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy helping guests discover the city, not just checking boxes on service standards. Parking is available (which is basically a miracle in Amsterdam), and they handle it seamlessly so you don’t have to navigate the city’s complicated car restrictions. It’s the kind of place where you feel pampered without feeling pretentious, if that makes sense — perfect for when you want to treat yourself but still feel like you’re experiencing the real Amsterdam just outside the door.
To book a hotel in Amsterdam during King’s Day, visitors plan ahead to balance orange-clad street parties with quiet Jordaan strolls.

What Our Guests Say
very clean and good hotel in centre of Amsterdam I liked the hotel in general. It is new and clean. Location is perfect just by tram station to centre in 5-10 min. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Very enjoyable, would like to come for longer next time Location was excellent
Friendly reception staff, room very clean
What could be improved: The lighting in the room could have been a bit brighter
Would definitely be back Amazing hotel in a perfect location. I got a room on the 5th floor and loved it. I’d say having same room any floor down would be a bit claustrophobic.
The hotel seems to be new or recently renovated, very clean as well!
What could be improved: A bit on a small side but perfect for a short trip.
Excellent location, room and staff The location is ideal for a weekend trip, very central to all the main sights. The staff were lovely, the room was very nice and despite the central location it was quiet in the room. Comfy bed, smart TV which you could cast to, free prosecco on arrival and some snacks in the room and a free drink at the bar next door for guests.
What could be improved: The toilet door is frosted glass so slightly see-through, just something to keep in mind if travelling with friends or family.
Good location , clean and new furniture, comfortly bed and big Minibar snack and refreshment was good and free. Even room is small , well organized and enough for 2 people, easy to walk everywhere
What could be improved: Room a litle bit small , Wc and room could be more private.
Very good Location in the city center, clean and new hotel, friendly stuff, comfortable bed, modern room
What could be improved: Small rooms, impossibility to open the windows.
Superb Great location, comfortable, modern and clean room. Super helpful staff!
What could be improved: It’s a little difficult to arrive by car or taxi at the front entrance
Superb Great room, clean, super helpful and friendly staff.
It was good 👍🏻 Top location, clean, modern.
What could be improved: Some lamps didn’t work and glass door in the toilet didn’t seem to be very practical 😅
Wonderful new hotel in a perfect location Brand new hotel, very well located, with wonderful facilities. Great breakfast with slow service. A special congrats to the front desk staff who are very profissional and comitted on making guests get the most of the hotel and the city. Specialy Sara from the front desk, always cheerful and helpful is a really added value to the hotel.
