This four-star property occupies a series of connected 19th-century buildings along Apollolaan — you know, that tree-lined boulevard that locals actually use as a shortcut between the Vondelpark and the fancy shopping district. The entrance has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream “tourist hotel,” which I really appreciated.

The Neighborhood Advantage

Here’s what I love about the Oud Zuid location — you’re close enough to everything without being stuck in the chaos of the Jordaan or Red Light District. The Concertgebouw is literally a five-minute walk away, and if you’re into museum hopping, the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum are both walkable. But honestly, some of my favorite moments were just grabbing coffee at the little places along PC Hooftstraat and watching Amsterdam wake up.

Breakfast was solid — fresh bread, good coffee, and they actually had proper Dutch cheese alongside the usual international options. I ended up eating there a couple evenings too, partly because the food was genuinely good, and partly because after walking around Amsterdam all day, sometimes you just want to stay put.
