First Impressions
Walking up to The Blossom House Amsterdam on Bloemstraat, you immediately notice this isn’t your typical canal house hotel. The building has that classic Amsterdam charm — tall, narrow, slightly tilted — but there’s something more polished about it. I mean, the street itself is tucked away in a quieter corner of the city center, which honestly makes arriving here feel like you’ve discovered something the tour groups haven’t found yet.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location — you’re literally in the heart of Amsterdam, but on a residential street where locals actually live. The Jordaan district starts just a few blocks away, and you can walk to the Anne Frank House in maybe ten minutes without fighting through the chaos of Damrak. There’s a little café called Café de Reiger around the corner that serves the kind of brown café atmosphere tourists pay good money to experience, except the bartender will actually remember your order by day three.
The Space Itself
The room I stayed in had those impossibly high ceilings that make you feel like you’re living in a Dutch master painting. Each space feels carefully designed — not over-decorated, just thoughtfully put together with modern touches that don’t clash with the historic bones of the building. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for Amsterdam standards, and you know what? The shower pressure was actually decent, which isn’t something you can take for granted in these old canal houses.
Daily Life Here
Breakfast happens in this bright ground-floor space that opens onto a small garden — something you definitely don’t expect to find in the city center. The spread isn’t elaborate, but everything feels fresh and local. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood well; they pointed me toward a Saturday market I never would have found otherwise. There’s no restaurant on-site for dinner, but honestly, with the Negen Straatjes (Nine Streets) shopping area a five-minute walk away, you’re spoiled for choice.
Why Guests Love It
This four-star place gets the balance right between authentic Amsterdam character and modern comfort. You’re staying in a real neighborhood instead of a tourist bubble, but with amenities that actually work — reliable WiFi, good heating, and beds that don’t creak when you move. The 9.7 rating makes sense when you experience how the small details add up: fresh flowers in the lobby, bicycles available to borrow, and staff who give recommendations based on what you actually want to do, not what’s in the guidebook.

What Our Guests Say
Experience the real beauty of Amsterdam Everything about this property exceeded our expectations! Situated in a charming and historic part of Amsterdam we found everything within easy reach, from great coffee to wonderful restaurants and bars. Our accomodation was on the ground floor so very easy regarding luggage and even though right alongside the street we found it almost soundproof. Exquisite room with lots of very thoughtful touches from our warm and welcoming hosts.
What could be improved: I’m missing it already.
Exceptional Mark and Paul were superb hosts and very generous with their time providing very helpful information. The room itself was impeccable and is located in a fabulous area. The next door Cafe Chris is very friendly and welcoming also.
Highly recommend this hidden gem. Great location. Close to many attractions and restaurants yet away from loud noise. Clean and spacious room. Very comfortable bed which was wonderful after 30+ hours of traveling. Heated bathroom floors! Mark, the host was friendly & helpful. We were even sent a message informing us there was a time change in Amsterdam. The lovely tulips & stroopwafels in our room upon arrival was such a nice touch.
What could be improved: No complaints at all.
Warm and wonderful The owners were wonderful! The room was clean and the little added extras were a great touch.
The location was amazing. the attention to detail, beyond exceeded our expectations. The location was amazing. the attention to detail, beyond exceeded our expectations. Our hosts were top notch. We went for a walk one afternoon and our hosts left us a little chocolate for when we came back. They give you such a nice personal touch. I couldn't say more. Is it in the more pricey area of Amsterdam, yes it is. But in life...you get what you pay for. and this stay is well worth the money. Id book over and over again if we ever came back to Amsterdam. Its right near all the amazing restaurants and places you want to be. Amsterdam can get a little seedy the further east you go so this area is right where you want to be.
In a word perfect! Great location, beautiful place, host was super friendly and recommendations were tip rate.
What could be improved: Nothing!

Superb room, great location! This is a fabulous room with great decor. Everything was spotlessly clean and the hotel is in a wonderful location.
The room was serviced each day and there were lovely touches such as the stroopwaffles and chocolate gifts.
Our wonderful host Mark could not do enough for us and my mum was especially touched by his birthday prosecco gift for her.
We stayed in the ground floor room and could not fault it. Mark was also accommodating in letting us store our cases prior to check in and after check out which meant we could fully enjoy every day of our trip.
A special birthday break for my mum that we'll never forget. Perfect!
What could be improved: Nothing!
