First Impressions
Walking up to ‘t Hotel on Leliegracht, you might almost miss it — and that’s actually part of its charm. This three-star boutique spot sits quietly along one of Amsterdam‘s most picturesque canals, tucked between the kind of narrow canal houses that make you want to grab your camera. The building itself feels authentically Dutch without trying too hard, you know? It’s got that understated elegance that locals seem to master so effortlessly.
Location That Actually Matters
Honestly, the location here is pretty spectacular — couples rate it 9.8, and I can see why. You’re literally in Amsterdam City Centre, but on Leliegracht rather than the tourist-packed main drags. This means you get the canal views and historic atmosphere without the constant stream of tour groups walking past your window. The Anne Frank House is just a few minutes’ walk, and you can easily stroll to the Jordaan district for some of the city’s best brown cafés. What I really appreciate is that you’re close enough to everything that matters, but the street itself maintains this lovely residential feel.
The Room Experience
The rooms here have earned quite a reputation for comfort — specifically those beds that guests keep raving about. I mean, after a day of walking Amsterdam’s cobblestones, sinking into a genuinely comfortable mattress makes all the difference. The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed, which is exactly what you’d expect in a historic canal house. The windows overlooked the canal, and there’s something almost meditative about watching the boats drift by in the early morning light.
Morning Routine
Breakfast is continental style, which works perfectly for the relaxed pace this place encourages. Nothing fancy, but everything you need to fuel up before exploring the city. What I liked was the timing — you can actually enjoy your coffee without feeling rushed, and the staff seems to understand that not everyone wants to be out the door by 8 AM. The breakfast area has this cozy, lived-in feeling that makes you want to linger over that second cup.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something refreshing about a hotel that doesn’t try to be everything to everyone. ‘t Hotel knows exactly what it is — a well-located, comfortable base for exploring Amsterdam that feels more like staying at a friend’s beautifully appointed canal house than a typical tourist hotel. The 9.1 rating speaks to consistent execution of the basics: great location, comfortable beds, and that intangible sense of place that makes you feel like you’re experiencing the real Amsterdam rather than just visiting it. For the price point, you’re getting access to one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods without the premium you’d pay at the larger properties.

What Our Guests Say
Amazing Amsterdam thanks to the ‘t hotel! The breakfast was so delicious too! Location was excellent however the staff was so kind and friendly which made the stay so wonderful.
What could be improved: The stairs are very steep. But so worth it!
Cute place perfect for our family stay in Amsterdam. The room (#8) was adorable and the staff were superb. Loft bedroom was perfect for 8 and 9 year old daughters. May not be suitable for younger kids for fear of falling from loft. Overall, highly recommended to others.
What could be improved: Room was a bit warm and stuffy but 2 fans were available to help circulate air which helped quite a bit.
We will be back. Clean, beautiful decor, staff very friendly and helpful, great location.
Superb Fantastic location, excellent staff, great breakfast. Room was clean, comfortable, and well equipped.
What could be improved: Just a warning, there is no elevator and the stairs are typically steep for Amsterdam.
Exceptional The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great location.
Will definitely stay again. Room is very comfortable. Breakfast is great.
What could be improved: We were on the third floor, stairs are very steep and narrow, but the staff were amazing and helped us get our luggage to the room, thank you Victor.
Great location, cozy atmosphere, and friendly staff — a perfect spot for a short stay in Amsterdam. Very pleasant stay! The hotel is in a perfect location — quiet and charming area by the canals, yet within walking distance to the city center, Jordaan, Red Light District, and Dam Square.
Our canal-view room had a great atmosphere, everything was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and fresh, served in a cozy dining room. The staff was friendly, helpful, and responsive via email. Being able to leave our luggage after check-out was a big plus.
An ideal spot for a short city break in Amsterdam — highly recommended!
