First Impressions
SWEETS – Kortjewantsbrug isn’t your typical hotel — it’s actually a converted bridge house right on the Prins Hendrikkade. I mean, when was the last time you slept inside a piece of Amsterdam history? The moment you approach this tiny structure, you realize you’re in for something completely different. It’s quirky, it’s intimate, and honestly, it’s one of those places that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a secret.
The Experience
This four-star bridge house is basically a self-contained apartment suspended over the water. The space is compact but cleverly designed — there’s a small kitchen area where you can make coffee and light meals, which is perfect since you’re staying in what used to be the bridge operator’s quarters. The whole place feels like a ship’s cabin, with everything built-in and purposeful. You know what really gets me? The windows wrap around the structure, so you’re literally surrounded by canal views.
Location & Neighborhood
Being right on Prins Hendrikkade puts you smack in the middle of everything — Central Station is maybe a five-minute walk, and you can easily reach the Red Light District or Nieuwmarkt on foot. But here’s the thing: despite being so central, the bridge house feels surprisingly peaceful. The water acts as a buffer from the street noise, and there’s something calming about watching boats pass underneath you. Plus, there’s decent parking nearby if you’re driving, though honestly, you won’t need a car from this spot.
The Room Details
The room itself is compact but thoughtfully laid out — we’re talking about a converted bridge house, so space is at a premium. The bed is comfortable enough, and the bathroom is surprisingly functional given the constraints. What really makes it work is the attention to detail in the renovation. They’ve managed to preserve the industrial character while making it genuinely comfortable. The heating works well too, which matters when you’re essentially sleeping above flowing water.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t for everyone — if you need a big hotel with a spa and room service, look elsewhere. But if you want to experience Amsterdam from a completely unique perspective, this place delivers. I’ve stayed in plenty of canal-side hotels, but none where you’re literally part of the waterway infrastructure. The novelty doesn’t wear off either; even after a few nights, I was still fascinated by the boats passing below and the way the light changes throughout the day. It’s the kind of place that makes for great stories, and the 9.0 rating reflects that guests genuinely appreciate the one-of-a-kind experience.

What Our Guests Say
This is an awesome unique place in Amsterdam. Highly recommend. The location was wonderful. It's close to everything plus it has 360-degree awesome view. If you like something unusual and also want to be the only people in the house, this is for you. It also has everything you need from small kitchen with a fridge and electric kettle to a shower with bath robes and slippers.
There is the Amsterdam Marine Museum right in front of the property. It's very good. I highly recommend it. Plus, we got 50% discount for it from the hotel.
A note: this place is basically a tower and is not suitable for the people with disabilities. It was not a problem for us though.
What could be improved: The luggage storage room is in a different hotel. I wish it could be closer to the place. This is not a big deal though.
This is an exceptional stay! With 360 degree views across the canals, it offers a unique view of Amsterdam. This is one of the most fun properties I’ve stayed in! It gives the most amazing views of some of the canals of Amsterdam and is just so unique.
What could be improved: It’s a bit further out of the city centre than anticipated… also would warn some people about lugging heavy bags up and down the stairs.
Exceptional An extremely unique property with a beautiful vantage point in the harbour. The bed was very comfortable and we didn’t want to leave!
Wonderful accomodation I loved the location and style of the property. Especially the view was phenomenal. Good service and no complaints. There was only a wrongly addressed letter on the desk, which probably means that my addressed letter was in another location too.
Exceptional A fantastic place, thoughtfully designed and prepared with heart! The location is beyond praise! I recommend it and will visit again!
Superb The accommodation was amazing.
Something completely different and unique.
What could be improved: Nothing.
Exceptional Wonderful place for a couple for a short visit to Amsterdam: located in the city center, lovely view of Nemo, full of nice design fornitures, easy to reach by public transport, clean, warm.
be part of the city Magnificent view and location.
What could be improved: You have to accept the noise of city traffic passing the bridge. Part of the deal but it may bother some. (Ear plugs were provided)
Exceptional Amazing location and facilities.
We were there for the weekend of Amsterdam City Swim. It was an amazing time to stay and be in that location. The 360 degree views
