This four-star bridge house is basically a self-contained apartment suspended over the water. The space is compact but cleverly designed — there’s a small kitchen area where you can make coffee and light meals, which is perfect since you’re staying in what used to be the bridge operator’s quarters. The whole place feels like a ship’s cabin, with everything built-in and purposeful. You know what really gets me? The windows wrap around the structure, so you’re literally surrounded by canal views.

Location & Neighborhood

Being right on Prins Hendrikkade puts you smack in the middle of everything — Central Station is maybe a five-minute walk, and you can easily reach the Red Light District or Nieuwmarkt on foot. But here’s the thing: despite being so central, the bridge house feels surprisingly peaceful. The water acts as a buffer from the street noise, and there’s something calming about watching boats pass underneath you. Plus, there’s decent parking nearby if you’re driving, though honestly, you won’t need a car from this spot.

The Room Details

The room itself is compact but thoughtfully laid out — we’re talking about a converted bridge house, so space is at a premium. I’ve stayed in plenty of canal-side hotels, but none where you’re literally part of the waterway infrastructure. The novelty doesn’t wear off either; even after a few nights, I was still fascinated by the boats passing below and the way the light changes throughout the day.
