First Impressions
Walking up to Studios at the canal along the Bloemgracht, you immediately get why this place has such a stellar location score. I mean, you’re literally steps from one of Amsterdam‘s most picturesque canals, and the whole area just feels authentically Dutch — none of that touristy stuff you find closer to Dam Square. The building itself has that classic Amsterdam charm, and honestly, the moment you step inside, you realize this four-star property gets the balance right between comfort and character.
The Heart of Amsterdam
What really struck me about staying here is how perfectly positioned you are for exploring the city. The Jordaan neighborhood wraps around you with its narrow streets and local cafes, but you’re also close enough to walk to the major museums and shopping areas without feeling like you’re in the thick of tourist chaos. I noticed couples seem to particularly love this spot — and after spending time here, I totally get it. There’s something romantic about having morning coffee while looking out at the canal, watching the boats drift by and locals cycling to work.
The Studio Experience
The room setup is pretty clever, actually. These aren’t your typical hotel rooms — they’re proper studio apartments with enough space to spread out and a small kitchenette that’s surprisingly well-equipped. You know what I appreciated most? The windows are generous, so you get plenty of natural light streaming in, and if you’re lucky enough to snag a canal-facing unit, the views are absolutely worth it. The design feels modern but not sterile, with touches that remind you you’re in Amsterdam without being kitschy about it.
Neighborhood Gems
One thing I loved about this location is how it puts you right in the middle of real Amsterdam life. There’s this fantastic local restaurant just around the corner that serves incredible Dutch comfort food — the kind of place you’d never find if you were staying in the more touristy areas. The nearby streets are lined with independent shops, cozy brown cafes, and that famous Saturday market at Noordermarkt is just a short walk away. Plus, you’re close enough to Anne Frank House and the major canal ring that you can easily walk there, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with crowds right outside your door.
Why Guests Love It
After staying here, I completely understand why this place consistently gets high marks from visitors. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re living in Amsterdam rather than just visiting it. The combination of having your own space with the apartment-style setup, plus being positioned in such an authentic part of the city, creates an experience that’s hard to replicate in a traditional hotel. Whether you’re planning romantic canal walks or just want to experience Amsterdam like a local, this place delivers without trying too hard — and sometimes, that’s exactly what makes a stay memorable.
Best hotels in Amsterdam blend light-washed lofts, canal-view spas, and rijsttafel chef’s tables.

What Our Guests Say
Fantastic location, but cold We really enjoyed the fantastic location. The room is small but well-equipped, and the relatively large fridge is a convenient feature.
What could be improved: The main issue we faced was the cold, as the windows could not be properly closed, letting in a constant draft. This also brought in continuous street noise. We requested a heater, but the owner took two days to respond, not solving anything… Fortunately, the weather improved, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here during the winter months. There were also minor issues like a lack of toilet paper, almost no shampoo, and the room being too small to store clothes. Overall, the unresponsiveness and cold made us question if we were truly welcome as guests.
Good Great location and well maintained
What could be improved: Noise from the street throughout the night , windows not sound proof.
Insufficient hanging space (2 people) and no space for 2 suitcases.
Superb The location was great to walk to most tourist destinations
Great location Location amazing
What could be improved: Shower drain clogged resulting in needing to have short shower or flood the bathroom. I let the host know but received no reply
Lovely stay in beautiful Jordaan neighborhood The room was compact and very efficient. The refrigerator had an ice tray that made my husband very happy. The bed was comfy and the shower spacious. Loved having the windows open in the afternoon. Walking distance to trams, buses, groceries and restaurants. A lovely neighbor to stroll in. Easy to get in.
What could be improved: The noise cannot be helped in an Amsterdam neighborhood. It is part of the charm, We appreciated very much the ear plugs left for both of us, We were very glad the weather was cool so it wasn't stuffy when we closed the windows. It was a bit confusing to find as there is no such street address on the building. We had help from a gentleman in the business downstairs,
Nice place, super small. Very clean
What could be improved: The people that stayed in the room across the hall were VERY loud at 2 or 3 am. They were coming in at that time but they did not quite down once arriving. They were super loud and the noise carried and it was impossible to sleep. No ear plugs could drown out the noise. We had noise from the street but it was passing noise and not someone staying right in your space so that was tolerable as it did not last. There was only 1 towel for each of us for the entire stay, so that was a little hard to make do.
Overall, it’s beautifully located on the prettiest canal in Amsterdam. The location was excellent and exactly what I expected. Nicely decorated. Beautiful view of the canal lined street.
What could be improved: Room size was small and the noise in middle of the night was quite high. There were earplugs next to our bed upon arrival, which I thought was strange. Then in the middle of the night, 1 am onward when I tried to sleep, I quickly understood why the earplugs were there. You could hear everything outside the closed windows. Conversations, cars, people walking around all night. Sleeping was quite a challenge.
Superb Loved this apartment, the location on the canal and the view from the room is brilliant. One of the best we have stayed in. We will be recommending this to others.
What could be improved: Stairs are quite steep and could be an issue for some people.
Lovely location and great facilities but you will encounter noise if you stay here! Beautiful property in a stunning location.
What could be improved: The property has beautiful old windows but sadly they let in lots of noise. The host provided earplugs and they are needed. It was a very noisy spot.
There are also extremely steep and narrows stairs to the rooms and would be almost impossible for someone with mobility issues to handle.
Beauitful room for friends in perfect location location, decor and layout of the room was great
What could be improved: when windy, the windows were very noisy and moved within the frame
