The building itself has that classic Amsterdam charm, though it’s been updated in all the right ways.

Here’s what I love about this place — you can walk to basically everything that matters in about ten minutes. The Red Light District is right there (whether that’s a plus or minus depends on your vibe), but you’re also super close to the quieter Jordaan neighborhood and all those postcard-perfect canals. What really surprised me was the parking situation — they actually have private spots available, which is honestly a miracle in central Amsterdam. Most hotels just shrug and point you toward expensive public garages.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — very Dutch in that efficient way where every inch serves a purpose. The Van Gogh theme isn’t overdone, thank goodness; it’s more subtle nods than full-blown artistic explosion. The windows are decent-sized for Amsterdam standards, and if you’re lucky enough to get a canal view, well, you’ll spend way too much time just watching the boats go by. The bathroom was modern and actually had good water pressure, which isn’t always a given in these older buildings.

Dining & Amenities

There isn’t a full restaurant on-site, but honestly, with Amsterdam’s incredible food scene right outside your door, that’s not really a problem. The breakfast setup is simple but solid — good coffee, fresh bread, and enough variety to get your day started right. What I appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood; they gave me restaurant recommendations that felt genuine, not just the usual tourist traps. The kitchen facilities are available for guests who prefer to prepare their own meals.

Why Guests Love It

You know what makes this place work? It’s that sweet spot between location and value that’s getting harder to find in Amsterdam. Couples especially seem to get it — there’s something romantic about being right in the heart of everything but still having a quiet retreat to come back to. The 8.7 rating feels about right; it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in the city, but it nails the basics and then some. Plus, when you can walk to the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, and about fifty great brown cafés without breaking a sweat, you start to understand why people keep coming back. The apartment-style layout makes it perfect for extended stays.
