First Impressions
Walking up to studio Vincent van Gogh on Prins Hendrikkade, you immediately get that “I’m really in Amsterdam” feeling. This four-star boutique spot sits right along one of the city’s main canals, and honestly, the location is pretty much perfect — I mean, you’re literally steps from Central Station but tucked away enough that it doesn’t feel touristy. The building itself has that classic Amsterdam charm, though it’s been updated in all the right ways.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I love about this place — you can walk to basically everything that matters in about ten minutes. The Red Light District is right there (whether that’s a plus or minus depends on your vibe), but you’re also super close to the quieter Jordaan neighborhood and all those postcard-perfect canals. What really surprised me was the parking situation — they actually have private spots available, which is honestly a miracle in central Amsterdam. Most hotels just shrug and point you toward expensive public garages.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — very Dutch in that efficient way where every inch serves a purpose. The Van Gogh theme isn’t overdone, thank goodness; it’s more subtle nods than full-blown artistic explosion. The windows are decent-sized for Amsterdam standards, and if you’re lucky enough to get a canal view, well, you’ll spend way too much time just watching the boats go by. The bathroom was modern and actually had good water pressure, which isn’t always a given in these older buildings.
Dining & Amenities
There isn’t a full restaurant on-site, but honestly, with Amsterdam’s incredible food scene right outside your door, that’s not really a problem. The breakfast setup is simple but solid — good coffee, fresh bread, and enough variety to get your day started right. What I appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood; they gave me restaurant recommendations that felt genuine, not just the usual tourist traps. The kitchen facilities are available for guests who prefer to prepare their own meals.
Why Guests Love It
You know what makes this place work? It’s that sweet spot between location and value that’s getting harder to find in Amsterdam. Couples especially seem to get it — there’s something romantic about being right in the heart of everything but still having a quiet retreat to come back to. The 8.7 rating feels about right; it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in the city, but it nails the basics and then some. Plus, when you can walk to the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, and about fifty great brown cafés without breaking a sweat, you start to understand why people keep coming back. The apartment-style layout makes it perfect for extended stays.

What Our Guests Say
Exceptional The location is fantastic. The owners are very nice and helpful. Everything is clean, tidy, and comfortable. It was a wonderful experience to spend the days in Amsterdam on a houseboat. We can recommend it to everyone.
Central and cozy houseboat The accommodation was very centrally located and beautifully furnished. We slept well in the comfortable beds, and the space was pleasantly sized with good amenities. It was a new experience for us—our first time staying on a houseboat, with narrow stairs that added a bit of a sporty challenge! We would definitly book it again!
What could be improved: The only thing that could be improved is the outdoor area; the access could be made more appealing by enhancing the grass and the bench outside.
What a fun way to experience Amsterdam! Excellent location, unique property
What could be improved: Towels were due to be replaced with something softer, a good investment...
Loved it, thanks Casper! Live like a local in the heart of Amsterdam. Quirky and historic boat living alongside a community of amsterdammers.
What could be improved: As the owner lived next door we were cautious about playing music as we didn’t want to disturb him. There was another group of friends staying on the other side of us in the boat and they threw cigarette ends all over the outside area.
Exceptional Perfect location to everything, the host Casper was brilliant, made us feel very welcome and made sure everything was okay for us. Was very happy with everything.
Never get off the boat........ Handy for central station and the centrum and jordaan districts but in a quiet location. Casper was a most welcoming host. The studo has good cooking facilities and a big fridge. Everything you need.
What could be improved: The bathroom door was a bit noisy and quite hard to close quietly, not anything to ruin your stay.
I enjoyed my stay. Very nice and different. Excellent host.
What could be improved: There is nothing that I didn’t like.
Very good Facilities to enjoy a 4 night stay. Kitchen had most of the things that you want and need to cook. Beds comfy.owner is a good guy and wants your stay to be perfect
What could be improved: It's a boat, I get it. But small porthole windows. Shower small . Could benefit with a microwave and paper towels. Noise from the apartment next door because the entry door to the shared apartments needs to be closed hard.
Traditional canal boat experience Amazing location. Loved the opportunity to see and stay on a canal boat. Everything was within walking distance and very close to central station
What could be improved: Was a little stuff at times, but the supplied fans helped out a lot
very nice stay for 3 days we went to a boat trip on Amsterdam Channels, Keukenhof and Zandam mills, Very well located near central station and CAsper who welcome us is a very nice person . He gave us his support for the questions we asked him. I recommend
What could be improved: Just a warning, The appartement is on a boat, then when windy few noises due to the movement of the boat may disturb you during the night , it 's better to bring ear plug.
