First Impressions
Studio Koggeschip sits on a quiet side street in Amsterdam City Centre, and honestly, you might walk right past it if you’re not looking carefully. The building feels authentically Dutch — narrow, charming, and tucked into the historic fabric of the neighborhood. This three-star property doesn’t try to be flashy, which I actually appreciate. It’s the kind of place that locals probably know about but tourists stumble upon by accident.
The Studio Experience
The room itself is what you’d expect from a studio setup — compact but thoughtfully designed. There’s a small kitchenette that’s actually functional (not just decorative like some places), and the space feels surprisingly open despite the limited square footage. The bed sits against one wall, and there’s just enough room to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. I mean, you’re not going to host a dinner party here, but for a solo traveler or couple, it works perfectly.
Location & Getting Around
Koggestraat is one of those Amsterdam streets that feels residential but you’re still walking distance to everything that matters. The Anne Frank House is about a ten-minute walk, and you can reach Dam Square in roughly the same time. What I love is that you’re close enough to the action but far enough away that you’re not dealing with crowds of tourists stumbling back from the Red Light District at 2 AM. The nearest tram stop is Nieuwmarkt, which connects you to pretty much anywhere in the city.
The Neighborhood Feel
This part of Amsterdam still feels like people actually live here — you know what I mean? There are local cafés where the barista remembers your order, small grocery shops, and the kind of brown café where locals gather for a beer after work. In the morning, you’ll see people cycling to work instead of just tourists wobbling around on rental bikes. It’s that authentic Amsterdam experience that’s getting harder to find in the city center.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.4 rating makes sense when you consider what this place delivers. You’re getting a clean, well-located studio at a reasonable price point — and in Amsterdam’s city center, that’s actually pretty remarkable. The staff seems to understand that guests want practical information (where’s the good coffee, which bike rental place won’t rip you off) rather than formal concierge service. It’s straightforward hospitality without the fuss, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re exploring a city like Amsterdam.

What Our Guests Say
Perfect location and n Amsterdam! Beautiful apartment and well decorated
What could be improved: Noise from the street
Excellent studio with great location and character. Location. Style. Character
What could be improved: The bed. Far too soft. 2 single mattresses. Like sleeping on bean bags. Need a better mattress and setup.
Exceptional Very cosy studio with everything you need. Location was particularly great for a short stay, as you're close to Centraal Station but in a quieter pocket on the canals.
Ron (who welcomed us) was really friendly and gave some great recommendations for our stay
Fabulous apartment Comfort, location, kitchenette
What could be improved: Bathroom lighting
We loved our stay - the apartment was spacious and very well located A very comfortable apartment.
What could be improved: The bathroom lighting could be improved.
Great host and location in Amsterdam Ron’s communication was outstanding and he waited patiently for our arrival as our train was delayed and the walk was slippery due to the weather. He explained how to use the keys and radiator/kitchen and recommended some location attractions.
The room was very roomy and comfortable and exactly as described.
The bed was comfortable, shower and refrigerator very good.
Plenty of power sockets and wifi was very good and reliable.
Highly recommended for location and friendliness.
What could be improved: The only tiny quibble was lugging our baggage up the half flight of steep stairs - only because we had been on the road so long so this is a nitpick!
Exceptional Lovely cosy apartment where we were met perfectly on time. The place was super comfy.
Great stay, fabulous quiet location. Close to everything and such a comfortable bed! We had six nights here over Christmas and really enjoyed how cosy, warm and comfortable the studio is. Beautifully decorated. Location is great. No cooktop but we managed ok with microwave, toaster and kettle. Peter is a great host. Fresh flower arrangements also added to making this a lovely stay and bed is so comfortable!
What could be improved: Really needs new towels in bathroom. Thin and quite hard. Don’t match the rest of the studio at all.
I will come back here Amazing space that is stylishly decorated with a beautiful colour scheme and classic Dutch features located a 10 minute walk from Centraal station and close to so many of the attractions.
Shower was brilliant too.
Comfortable in Central Amsterdam Great location, well appointed and comfortable.
What could be improved: The fridge is a tad old and thermostat is playing up.
