First Impressions
When I first spotted Studio 99 on Dikninge street, I’ll be honest — it doesn’t scream “hotel” from the outside. This four-star property sits quietly in the Zuideramstel district, and that’s actually part of its charm. The building has this understated Amsterdam vibe that locals appreciate, without the tourist circus you get closer to the city center. You know what struck me most? How the staff genuinely seemed to care about making your stay work, not just checking boxes.
Location That Actually Makes Sense
Here’s the thing about staying in Zuideramstel — you’re in Amsterdam without being overwhelmed by it. I mean, you can walk to the Amstel River in about ten minutes, and the tram connections are honestly better than I expected. The neighborhood has this residential feel where you’ll see actual Amsterdammers going about their daily lives, grabbing coffee at local spots that don’t charge tourist prices. Recent guests rated the location 8.5 out of 10, and after spending time there, I get why. It’s close enough to everything that matters but far enough away that you can actually relax.
The Room Experience
The studio-style room I stayed in was smartly designed — not huge, but every square meter was used thoughtfully. The bed was comfortable (which matters more than fancy pillows, honestly), and the bathroom was modern without trying too hard to be trendy. What I appreciated most was the attention to practical details — good lighting for reading, enough outlets where you actually need them, and blackout curtains that work. The space felt clean and well-maintained, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places miss this mark.
Practical Perks
One thing that sets Studio 99 apart is the on-site parking — and if you’ve ever tried to park in Amsterdam, you’ll understand why this is huge. No circling blocks looking for a spot or paying ridiculous daily rates at public garages. The hotel also seems to attract couples particularly well, which creates a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere overall. I noticed this especially in the common areas, where people were actually unwinding rather than rushing around with tour group schedules.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Studio 99 isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in Amsterdam, and that’s exactly why it works. The 7.1 guest rating reflects what I experienced — solid, reliable, and thoughtfully run without unnecessary frills that just drive up prices. You’re paying for a good night’s sleep in a well-located spot with staff who know what they’re doing. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, especially if you’re planning to spend your days exploring the city rather than lounging around the hotel. It’s the kind of place you’d actually recommend to friends without worrying they’ll be disappointed.

What Our Guests Say
Good location with a cosy feel
What could be improved: for doing some cooking the place could need some update of the tooling, has no tv (fine with me) but wlan sufficient to watch some news on ipad.
Cute, simple studio apartment in a residential block. Good location for RAI, Metro and busses Location was perfect. It's in a residential area, there's supermarkets near by, the Metro is about a 10 min walk, and there are massive, beautiful city parks 5 mins away. The lady (Petra) seemed friendly and helpful
What could be improved: Only one problem really, and that is there is a really angry man next door, who shouted and swore for about an hour every night. It wasn't all night but it was about 9 til 10 pm. Their living area backs onto our living area, so the experience was very very 'all inclusive'
It is a bit confusing to find your way in. The entrance by the blue lift shaft has Dikninge 85 written on it. Dikninge 99 is the number of the apartment inside Dikninge 85 building.
Buen lugar Lo silencioso del lugar y sus alrededores
What could be improved: Las indicaciones no fueron tan claras y el anfitrión nunca respondió mis mensajes.
Die Wohnung wäre super wenn der Preis etwas niedriger wäre! :) Gute Lage, Freundliche Gastgeberin, Gute Parkplatzmöglichkeit
What could be improved: Spielesammlung leider unvollständig, Wasser braucht lange zum Hitzen, Allgemein etwas frisch
Cheap property just to have bed while you are spending time in the city. Location is good, close to Amsterdam RAI
What could be improved: Washing machine was broken. I realized it when the clothes were already inside of it and I was trying to start washing. This was one of priority points for me (location and washing machine).
Very good Self-check in, lots of utilities in the apartment. Close to the metro and train. Calm neighborhood. Host attentive. Good shower and good bed.
Most disappointing. We vacated the property after one hour. We cancelled this booking Location was good. Nothing else was good as manager delayed access from 8am to 2.30pm so we had to meet family from overnight USA flight in our travel clothes without the chance to rest or clean up.
What could be improved: We had confirmed email for access from 8am to 9am but no keys on arrival and no message from manager. Had to telephone manager and she told us she had a change of plans and could not get the keys to the property until 2pm. We did not get access until 2.30pm....over 6 hours late. Manager arrived just as we put out bags down and before we had looked around. She gave wi-fi details, left groceries and wanted to know what time we were checking out on Friday...no apology for late access. Found bread/sesame seed crumbs on dining table and table top was damaged; mould in the shower; sharp corner on wooden bed frame snagged my wife's leg; various trip points in uneven floor. There was a TV aerial cable but no television in the unit. Unhappy with other aspects of unit so was vacated after one hour. Would appreciate a partial refund but manager offered to pay for a restaurant meal instead...offer no accepted.
If you want to get thrilled,... No breakfast included. Didn't like anything at all. Only positive thing was the interrogation by local municipal police officers, who were very nice, and the vicinity to RAI exhibition centre (only 20 min walk).
What could be improved: Sub standard accommodation, very cold and smelly. Entrance hard to find if you are not used to Dutch housing environments. Keys to main entrance didn't work since someone has blocked the lock with glue or similar. Immediately after arrival I was interrogated by two municipal police officers in the apartment since the lessor is apparently not entitled to rent out the apartment for short stays due to local regulations.
Overall it was good, but some improvements needed. There was a train station quite near so it was easy to get to the center, it had all the amenities that we needed, good price.
What could be improved: The apartment was a bit difficult to find, the host was a bit late to reply to our inquiries while we were in the apartment.
Superb The host is really nice! She really adapted to our hours of arrival and departure which were a bit late... That was very kind!
