First Impressions
Walking up to Skinny Bridge Boutique Stay on Amstel street, you immediately understand why this four-star property has such devoted fans. The building sits right along one of Amsterdam‘s most picturesque canals, and honestly β the location is almost too good to be true. I mean, you’re literally steps from the famous Magere Brug (that’s the Skinny Bridge the hotel’s named after), and the whole area feels like you’ve stepped into a postcard.
The Heart of Amsterdam
What strikes you about this spot is how genuinely central it is without feeling touristy or overwhelming. You can walk to the Rijksmuseum in about ten minutes, but you’re also surrounded by those narrow streets where locals actually live and work. The canal views from the front-facing rooms are spectacular β I watched boats drift by while having my morning coffee, and it never got old. There’s something magical about being right on the Amstel River, especially in the early evening when the light hits the water just right.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed β very much in keeping with Amsterdam’s boutique hotel style. Everything felt carefully chosen rather than just thrown together, from the crisp linens to the modern bathroom fixtures. Storage was cleverly integrated (which matters when you’re dealing with typical Amsterdam building constraints), and the windows actually opened wide enough to let in that fresh canal air. The Wi-Fi was solid, and honestly, the bed was more comfortable than I expected for a boutique property.
Neighborhood Charm
What I loved most was stepping outside and immediately being in the real Amsterdam. There’s a great brown cafΓ© just around the corner where locals gather for jenever, and the morning market at Nieuwmarkt is an easy stroll away. You know what’s nice? You can walk to Anne Frank House or the Red Light District, but you’re staying somewhere that feels residential and authentic. The tram connections are excellent too β line 14 stops practically at your doorstep, so getting around the city is effortless.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.3 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s that rare combination of prime location and genuine character that’s hard to find in Amsterdam these days. Couples especially seem to fall for this place (and I can see why β those canal views are pretty romantic), but it works just as well if you’re traveling solo and want to feel connected to the city. The staff clearly takes pride in the property, and you can tell they enjoy sharing insider tips about the neighborhood. For the price point, you’re getting something special β not just a place to sleep, but a real Amsterdam experience.

What Our Guests Say
Exceptional Beautiful apartment, ground floor. Very comfortable beds, and couch was great to sit on and play cards. We spent 4 nights, great location for walking to a lot of attractions. Nice small courtyard, weather was lovely, a couple of outdoor chairs would have been nice to have to sit and have a glass of wine. (Pls note, we did not ask, there may have been some ) Lovely hand made table with high stools, but unable to sit on stools as u slide off. Yes we would stay there again. π
Exceptional Nice, clean and spacious place right next to the Skinny Bridge.
Great location and very comfortable! Location. Skinny Bridge was right outside the door. Clean. Easy to access. Bed was very comfortable. The host provided beverages. Mini fridge. Hairdryer provided. Nice soaps provided. Nespresso machine.
What could be improved: A sulfuric scent in the sink area. Outdoor area was not usable (water from rain accumulated and no sitting area), though not advertised as usable.
Superb EXCELLENT LOCATION. FRIENDLY AND ACCOMMODATING HOST. COMFORTABLE. GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY.
Exceptional Amazing place. Super comfortable. Great location. About 30 minutes walking distance from any touristic place.
It was the perfect βbase campβ for our week exploring Amsterdam and nearby towns. We were out during the days and it wa The location adjacent to Magere Brug was charming and picturesque. We used public transportation which was 5-6 minute walk. Beyond quiet, it was silent in a sleepy neighborhood. It was very spacious but would have been uncomfortable for more than two people. The furnishings were new, fashionable, and fresh. It was functionally sparse in a perfect way; only room enough for a quick cup of coffee and a small fridge for water.
Very good The location is amazing, almost in the center, everything is within walking distance.
Very nice stay! Huge bathroom, comfortable bed, wonderful restaurants close by and easy to catch tram #4 and get to Amsterdam RAI within 20 minutes
Exceptional Best stay in Amsterdam worth the price
Superb This a very spacious property. The bed was a good firmness for us. It had a fantastic shower room and a separate loo. There was a sofa, which is important to us, so that we did not have to sit on the bed. Everything was lovely and clean. It was about a 30-minute walk from the Central Station, and we could walk everywhere that we wanted to go from the property. The landlord was really helpful in answering any questions that we had. There were lots of good places to eat within a 5- or 10-minute walk, and a local grocery store not too far away.
