First Impressions
Walking up to Sir Albert Hotel, part of Sircle Collection on Albert Cuypstraat, I’ll be honest — the building itself caught me off guard. This isn’t some sleek modern box, but rather a repurposed diamond factory from the early 1900s with this wonderfully industrial-meets-boutique vibe that feels distinctly Amsterdam. The four-star property has kept much of the original character intact, and you can actually feel the history in those thick walls and high ceilings the moment you step inside.
Location & Neighborhood
The location is honestly pretty perfect if you want to experience Amsterdam like a local rather than just hitting the tourist spots. You’re right in De Pijp, which means the famous Albert Cuyp Market is literally at your doorstep — and I mean that quite literally, since the hotel sits right on the market street. On weekdays it’s peaceful, but come Saturday morning and you’ll hear the market vendors setting up their stalls. The Heineken Experience is a short walk away, and you can reach the Museum Quarter in about ten minutes on foot.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had this interesting mix of industrial elements and warm touches — exposed brick walls paired with plush fabrics and rich colors. What I really appreciated was the attention to lighting; there are multiple options so you’re not stuck with harsh overhead lights when you want to wind down. The bathrooms are modern and well-designed, though if you’re particularly tall, you might find the shower setup a bit snug (the building’s age shows in some of these quirky spatial constraints).
Dining & Social Spaces
The ground floor restaurant and bar area has become something of a neighborhood hangout, which I actually love — it means the place feels alive rather than like a sterile hotel lobby. The breakfast spread is solid, nothing revolutionary but well-executed with both Dutch classics and international options. What’s nice is that they source quite a bit locally, so you’ll find cheese and bread from Amsterdam suppliers rather than generic hotel fare.
Why Guests Love It
You know what sets this place apart? It’s that sweet spot between boutique character and reliable comfort. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood — they’ll send you to the little coffee place around the corner that locals actually frequent, not the tourist trap version. The building’s industrial past gives it personality that you just can’t manufacture in newer hotels, while the Sircle Collection’s standards mean everything actually works properly. If you want to stay somewhere that feels connected to Amsterdam’s creative energy without sacrificing comfort, this is your spot.
Best hotels in Amsterdam blend canal-view balconies, design interiors, and farm-to-table breakfast spreads.

Exceptional The hotel is excellent! Very clean, comfortable bed, good staff who pay attention to the little details (like a birthday). The hotel is conveniently located near the metro station and Albert Market, which I find to be an excellent location, although not in the city center. We enjoyed it very much.
