First Impressions

Walking into Sir Adam Hotel, part of Sircle Collection, you immediately notice they’ve done something different here. The lobby feels more like a friend’s well-designed living room than a typical hotel reception — there’s this relaxed energy that puts you at ease right away. It’s a four-star property, but honestly, it doesn’t try too hard to impress you with marble and gold everything, which I actually appreciate.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s the thing about Amsterdam Noord — it used to be this forgotten area across the water, but now it’s become one of the coolest parts of the city. You’re right at Overhoeksplein, which means you can walk to that massive A’DAM Tower (great views, by the way) in literally two minutes. The free ferry to Central Station runs every few minutes, and I mean it — I’ve never waited more than five minutes for one. Once you figure out the ferry system, you’ll actually prefer staying on this side of the IJ river.

The Room Experience

My room had these floor-to-ceiling windows that made Amsterdam feel like it was right there with me. The design is what I’d call “grown-up playful” — think warm woods, pops of color, and smart little touches like the bedside controls that actually make sense. The bathroom was spacious enough that I wasn’t bumping into everything, and the shower pressure was solid (you know how hit-or-miss that can be in Amsterdam hotels).

The ground floor restaurant spills out onto this terrace that catches the afternoon sun perfectly. I grabbed lunch there twice — the menu isn’t trying to be fancy, just good ingredients done well. What I loved most was how locals actually hang out here too; it’s not just hotel guests looking lost with their guidebooks. The evening crowd gets pretty lively, especially on weekends when people come over from the city center to see what Noord is about.

You know what really works about Sir Adam? It feels like Amsterdam without all the tourist chaos. You can walk along the waterfront at night and actually hear yourself think, but you’re still connected to everything that matters. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy working here — they’ll chat about the neighborhood, recommend places that aren’t in every guidebook, and remember your name after a day or two. Plus, there’s something satisfying about taking that little ferry ride each time you come “home” to the hotel — it creates this nice buffer between your day exploring the city and your evening wind-down.
