First Impressions
When I first walked into Reiwa, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this four-star spot tucked away on Zeeburgerpad. The name caught my attention — it’s Japanese for “beautiful harmony,” and you know what, it actually fits. There’s something quietly sophisticated about the place that feels different from the typical Amsterdam hotel scene.
The Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about Zeeburg — most tourists skip right over this area, but that’s actually what makes it great. You’re about fifteen minutes from Central Station by tram, but the vibe is completely different. It’s where actual Amsterdammers live, with proper cafés and that relaxed Eastern Docklands energy. I mean, you can walk to the water in five minutes, and there’s something really nice about being near the IJ without all the chaos of the city center.
The Room Experience
My room had this minimalist thing going on that reminded me why Japanese design philosophy works so well. Clean lines, lots of natural light, and honestly, better storage than most places twice the size. The bathroom was particularly well thought out — separate shower area, good water pressure, and those little details like proper hooks for your clothes that show someone actually stayed in these rooms before deciding where everything should go.
Dining and Amenities
The restaurant downstairs serves this interesting fusion of Dutch and Asian influences, which sounds weird but actually works really well. I had their take on Indonesian rijsttafel one evening, and it was proper comfort food after a long day walking around. There’s also a small spa area that’s perfect for unwinding — nothing flashy, just a sauna and treatment rooms that feel like a genuine retreat from the city.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Reiwa isn’t trying to be the flashiest place in town, and that’s exactly why it works. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay comfortable rather than just checking boxes. Plus, parking is available on-site, which anyone who’s driven in Amsterdam will tell you is basically a miracle. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing the real city rather than just passing through it.

What Our Guests Say
Exceptional We loved our stay, the location was perfect; we loved looking out along the canal and walks in the neighborhood. Shopping, restaurants and transit were close by, and the host was just great — very thoughtful.
Exceptional It's a great place to spend a weekend away from your busy life. Stay, relax, enjoy the water view, with some local birds swinging around.
Quite, comfortable and pleasant The area is so quiet, the room is big and the beds were very comfortable. The patio outdoors is great for a tea in the morning or evening. Great bathroom facilities, all really new and in great state. Owner was very nice posting me the earbuds I left there.
What could be improved: You need the bus/tram to get to most Amsterdam places, but they pass quite often, the last one leaves at about 23.50 from Amsterdam central, and the 3+14 trams stop in 80% of the touristy places. Buy your multiday ticket via GVB app and you are golden!!
Lovely stay and good clean room. Thank you so much. Lovely peaceful location and kind hospitable host. Lovely area with really nice restaurants and easy access to the rest of Amsterdam. Good transport and easy to hop to Central station to get to the F1 in Zandvoort.
What could be improved: Nothing.
Exceptional Beautiful, very clean and tidy boathouse in a nice calm neighborhood. Very soft and comfortable bed. Nice and clean shower and toilet.
Recomended! The landlord is extremely friendly and helpful. The room is clean and spaceous. And it was quite a thrill to sleep in a luxerious house boat.
What could be improved: The location is a little further away from centrum than I had hoped.
Exceptional We were repeat guests and enjoyed our stay so much! Thank you Ton & Tomoko, we will come back!
We loved it. A very well equipped room, beautifully decorated, with a wonderful view of the canal, and swans swimming by the window. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The house is five minutes walking from the tram stop. We would definitely book again.
What could be improved: everything was fine. No complaints.
Fantastic, atypical place! The houseboat is a charming place, away from the buzzing activity of the city, but still easily reachable. Ton is an amazing and generous host. This was a great experience.
Superb stay! Great experience Ton was very attentive and helpful before our arrival, during our stay and even after we left, he made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The room is spacious, very comfortable, it has an amazing view and it feels magical, you can see the canal on one side and a beautiful front garden on the other. The amenities are very functional, the room it's nicely decorated and the bed was like sleeping in a cozy cloud. Tea, coffee and water are complimentary. The bathroom was extremely clean, shower had good water pressure and toiletries were included (shampoo, body Gel, Body Lotion, shower cap, cotton disks and cotton swabs), there's also a hair dryer available.
The location worked really well for us. There's 2 trams to reach the city, you can reach the train easily too. There is also a nice restaurants' area, walking distance (about 10min walk).
We had to leave early in the morning and we forgot a pair of glasses. We contacted Ton as soon as we noticed and he went the extra mile by shipping the glasses to us right away. We highly appreciated this!
We will definitely stay again when in Amsterdam and highly recommend Ton and his amazing house to anyone looking for a nice accomodation there.
What could be improved: We liked everything!
