First Impressions
Look, I’ll be honest — Redlightdistrict chinacitycentre partypalace has probably the most straightforward name I’ve ever encountered for a hotel. It tells you exactly what you’re getting into, and honestly, I appreciate that kind of transparency. This four-star spot sits right on Geldersekade, which means you’re literally steps away from everything Amsterdam is famous for. The building itself is one of those classic narrow Amsterdam structures, squeezed between its neighbors like they’re all holding each other up.
Location Reality Check
You know what’s wild about staying here? You can walk to Dam Square in about three minutes, but you’re also right next to Chinatown — which most tourists completely miss. I mean, Amsterdam‘s Chinatown is tiny compared to other cities, but the dim sum spots around the corner are actually fantastic. The Red Light District is obviously right there (hence the name), so if you’re easily bothered by the nightlife scene, this probably isn’t your place. But if you want to be in the absolute center of everything happening, you’ve found it.
The Room Experience
The rooms are… well, they’re Amsterdam-sized, which means smaller than you might expect if you’re coming from North America. But they’ve done something smart with the space — everything feels intentional rather than cramped. Each room has this modern-meets-traditional Dutch vibe going on, with clean lines but some nods to the historic neighborhood. The windows are decent-sized for this area, though don’t expect sweeping canal views from every room — this isn’t that kind of hotel, and the price reflects that reality.
Practical Stuff That Matters
Here’s what I actually cared about during my stay: the Wi-Fi works everywhere, the shower has proper water pressure (not always a given in these old buildings), and the front desk staff genuinely knows the neighborhood. They pointed me toward a late-night restaurant that I never would’ve found otherwise. Parking is basically impossible right at the hotel — but honestly, you don’t need a car here anyway. Trams and bikes will get you everywhere faster.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. You’re not paying for marble bathrooms or a rooftop spa — you’re paying to wake up in the middle of one of Europe’s most interesting neighborhoods. The 8-point rating makes sense when you consider what you’re actually getting: a clean, comfortable base in an unbeatable location. I watched people stumble back from late dinners in the Red Light District while I sat by my window with coffee the next morning, and that pretty much sums up the whole experience. It’s Amsterdam without any sugar-coating, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
Hotels in Amsterdam line historic canals, museum quarters, and buzzing neighborhoods filled with cozy cafés.

What Our Guests Say
Great party palace! We loved the location, central and close to public transportation and trains. The house has lots of character and has enough space for us to host our family and friends for a small gathering. The pictures do not do it justice. The views from the large windows are gorgeous.
What could be improved: The neighborhood is a bit rowdy, with wafts of smoke from the nearby coffeeshop coming through regularly. The stairs are very steep, and the bathrooms are small.
Exceptional I had the pleasure of staying at Yacob's beautiful 16th-century apartment in Amsterdam, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Yacob proved to be an exceptional host, always ready to assist with a warm and friendly demeanor. His knowledge of the area was invaluable, as he provided us with fantastic recommendations for both sightseeing and dining.
The communication with Yacob was consistently prompt and efficient, ensuring a hassle-free stay. The apartment itself was a gem, exuding charm and character at every corner. The highlight, undoubtedly, was the roof terrace, offering breathtaking views of the city.
Located in the heart of Amsterdam, this apartment was the perfect base for exploring the city's wonders. I can't wait to return and relive this incredible experience. Thank you once again, Yacob, for your hospitality and for making our stay in Amsterdam truly exceptional.

Exceptional this property is a perfect location, right in the heart of the Center of Amsterdam. Very roomy and perfect for a group of people visiting Amsterdam. The host Jacob was so helpful with anything we needed, pointed us in the right direction for nightlife and day time activities. He went above and beyond by having cold beers and food in the fridge of the house every day for us to help ourselves.
would highly recommend this property, and will definitely be staying here again.
