First Impressions
The Radisson Blu Hotel, Amsterdam City Center sits right in the heart of Amsterdam on a quiet street that somehow feels tucked away despite being smack in the middle of everything. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Central Station, but Rusland street has this calm, almost residential feel that caught me off guard. The building itself has that classic Amsterdam brick facade — it fits right into the neighborhood without trying too hard.
Location That Actually Works
Here’s what I love about this spot — you can walk to the Red Light District in about five minutes (whether that’s your thing or not), but you’re also super close to the quieter canals and those little brown cafes locals actually frequent. The Nieuwmarkt area is right there, and honestly, that square becomes this lovely gathering spot in the evenings. You know what’s really handy? There’s a decent Albert Heijn supermarket just around the corner, which saved me from overpriced hotel snacks more than once.
The Room Experience
My room on the fourth floor had these big windows that let in tons of light — something you really appreciate during Amsterdam’s gray winter days. The design feels contemporary but not sterile, if that makes sense. The bathroom was properly spacious (not always a given in Amsterdam hotels), and the shower had actual water pressure. One thing that impressed me: the soundproofing was solid, which matters when you’re this close to the city center action.
Dining and Amenities
The hotel’s restaurant serves decent international fare, though I’ll be honest — with Amsterdam’s incredible food scene right outside, I mostly just grabbed coffee there in the mornings. The breakfast spread was actually quite good, with proper Dutch cheese selections and fresh bread. There’s also a fitness center that’s small but well-equipped, and they offer parking in a nearby garage (which, trust me, you’ll want to book ahead if you’re driving in Amsterdam).
Why Guests Love It
This four-star hotel gets it right by being genuinely helpful without being fussy. The front desk staff know the neighborhood inside and out — they pointed me toward this tiny cheese shop on Zeedijk that I never would’ve found otherwise. The whole place feels professional but not corporate, which is exactly what you want when you’re exploring a city like Amsterdam. You’re paying for location and quality here, and honestly, both deliver.
Exploring Amsterdam blends gabled houses, world-class museums, and vibrant neighborhoods glowing with canal lights.

What Our Guests Say
Superb Location was pretty good , just a nice distance from all the crowds, but within walking distance to all major attractions. Room was lovely, clean, very comfortable bedding and all amenities needed, great little help yourself (pay by card) store in foyer, too. Bar area was very nice as well. Did not have the breakfast, so cannot comment. Staff were very helpful with directions and tourist advice. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay. Thank you
Good but not perfect Very good location, we could walk to everything. The bed was very comfortable and the staff were helpful, we felt both very welcome and very safe in the hotel.
What could be improved: The light switch to the bathroom was broken and wouldn't turn off. There should be a mirror at or near the dressing table and for the price we paid, I would expect at least a bottle of water in the room.
Superb Good location and clean room
Very good Very central located near many restaurants
Excellent breakfast
Superb Perfect location in the city center, but not so crowdy
Stayed during our time watching the Dutch GP, had an amazing time! Great location and amazing staff
What could be improved: Room door key and lock system was constantly faulty. Staff admitted that they needed updating
We were a family group (11) staying with you and you provided perfect bar and breakfast for us. The reception staff were very helpful and changed my room due to my disability. They even found me somewhere to store and charge my disability buggy overnight. The breakfast room staff were very helpful and helped me fetch my breakfast.
What could be improved: I managed to get around the hotel in the disability buggy and/or crutches, but there were 3 sets of steps in reception. Getting to the breakfast room was very difficult up (and down) the steps.
Nice place, central location Room was lovely, the restaurant was good, breakfast was great. There was also a self-check store that we didn't use, but looked very convenient. Easy location to walk to everything.
What could be improved: The AC kept resetting multiple times a night, so the room wasn't as cool as we liked.
Good value and comfort located in the heart of Amsterdam. Great location, excellent service by the staff, loved the breakfast buffet with ample choices.
Very good Great location - so easy to get around. And very peaceful
