First Impressions
Walking up to Quentin Zoo hotel on Plantage Middenlaan, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the name. But stepping inside, it all clicks — there’s this playful, slightly quirky vibe that feels refreshingly different from your typical four-star business hotel. The lobby has these animal-themed touches that could’ve been cheesy, but they actually pulled it off with style.
Prime Amsterdam Location
You know what’s great about this spot? You’re literally a two-minute walk from Artis Zoo (hence the name), but more importantly, you’re in the heart of Amsterdam‘s cultural district. The Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum are just a pleasant stroll through Vondelpark away. I mean, you could easily walk to the Anne Frank House or catch a tram to the buzzing Jordaan neighborhood without any hassle.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but thoughtfully designed — typical Amsterdam style where every square meter counts. The bed was genuinely comfortable, and I appreciated the blackout curtains (trust me, those summer nights in Amsterdam stay bright forever). The bathroom wasn’t huge, but it had good water pressure and decent toiletries. What I really liked was the little seating area by the window where you could actually relax with a coffee.
Dining and Common Areas
The hotel’s restaurant serves solid international fare, though honestly, with Amsterdam’s incredible food scene right outside your door, I’d suggest exploring the neighborhood instead. Breakfast was decent — nothing spectacular, but it got the job done with fresh bread, local cheeses, and proper coffee. The staff seemed genuinely friendly, which isn’t always a given in busy city hotels.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing — Quentin Zoo hotel works because it doesn’t try too hard. It’s got personality without being gimmicky, it’s well-located without the tourist trap feel, and the service feels personal rather than corporate. Parking can be tricky in this part of town, but there are options nearby if you’re driving. For the price point and location, it’s actually a pretty smart choice if you want something with character in the museum quarter.
Early hotels booking in Amsterdam secures light festival cruises, jazz club nights, and private cheese-tasting sessions.

What could be improved: The room was nice but could use some slight renovations. Als the airconditioning was broken
great location, nice modern rooms with a lift! modern room with decent sized bathroom.
located in a nice neighbourhood and right near a tram stop. Has a lift!
What could be improved: The fire alarm went off twice during the middle of the night, they were false alarms but there was no communication from staff or apology in the morning.
Superb Great location by the Zoo, the numer 14 tram stops right outside the hotel, its 15 mins from Central station. Surrounded by some great bars and places to eat its so much nicer than staying in the noist city centre.
Excellent location in a quiet area on the tram line The location is excellent. In the Artis/Zoo area, directly next to the tram stop with cafes, ice cream shop just around the corner. A short walk to numerous museums and canal tours
