First Impressions
Walking up to Q-Factory Hotel in Amsterdam‘s Oost district, you immediately notice this isn’t your typical tourist hotel. The building has this industrial-chic vibe that feels authentically Dutch — none of that forced “Amsterdam charm” you get in some places. It’s a three-star property, which honestly sets the right expectations. You’re not getting marble lobbies here, but what you do get is something way more interesting. The attention to detail throughout the property reflects a commitment to quality over pretense.
The Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying in Oost — you’re actually living like locals do. The Atlantisplein area isn’t crawling with tour groups, but you’ve got everything you need within walking distance. There’s this great organic market nearby, and honestly, some of the best coffee shops I’ve found in the city are just around the corner. The tram connections are solid too, so getting to the center takes maybe 15 minutes. Couples seem to really get this location (they rate it 8.0), and I can see why — it feels like you’ve discovered something off the beaten path. The neighborhood truly captures the essence of Amsterdam’s residential character.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but thoughtfully designed. You know what struck me? They actually made good use of the space instead of just cramming stuff in. The bed was comfortable enough, and the bathroom — while small — had decent water pressure. The windows are pretty soundproof, which matters because you’re still in a city. I mean, don’t expect a suite, but for the price point, it works really well. Each detail has been considered with the guest’s comfort in mind.
Breakfast and Amenities
The buffet breakfast is actually better than I expected for a three-star place. They’ve got the usual suspects — bread, cheese, cold cuts — but also some local touches that show they’re paying attention. The restaurant area doubles as the breakfast space, and it’s got this relaxed, communal feel. Staff members are genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions. Parking can be tricky in this part of Amsterdam (like everywhere else), so I’d recommend checking with them first if you’re driving. The overall dining experience reflects the hotel’s neighborhood-focused philosophy.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this hotel gets a 7.2 rating, and that feels about right — it’s good, solid, and does what it promises without trying to be something it’s not. What makes it special is the location and the fact that you’re staying somewhere with character. You’re not in a cookie-cutter chain hotel; you’re in a place that feels connected to the neighborhood. The value is definitely there, especially if you want to experience Amsterdam beyond the tourist bubble. It’s perfect for travelers who appreciate authenticity over amenities, and honestly, that’s becoming harder to find these days. This hotel represents a refreshing alternative to conventional hospitality.

What Our Guests Say
Comfortable, good transport links This hotel is very comfortable, an easy location with transport links close by. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: The price doesn't match the facilities! They have no amenities such as basic shower products shampoo, conditioner etc but are charging expensive prices per night, I think you either are an 'elevated' hostel and bring your prices down without the basic amenties or you are a hotel with the prices you have now and have basic necessities. Other than that, it was a great spot.
A great place to visit Amsterdam, not central but very well connected with lovely cafes around near a canal Nice access to transport despite not being central, the decor was nice and so was the local area. Access to a piano to play and space to relax. Nice size mini fridge.
What could be improved: Lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Lack of air con in the rooms. We came during a heatwave and the fan was not enough to keep our room cool.
Very pleased with our experience at the Q-Factory Hotel. We liked the location of the hotel and the room was comfortable.
The room was large, so it was easy to put our luggage down. The beds were also great!
What could be improved: The walls are very thin, so we could hear the other people around us very well and the elevator next to us. The window in our bathroom was also very large and we couldn’t cover it but thankfully we were quite high up, so it wasn’t easy to see inside.
Good times had. Location, theme
What could be improved: The fridge didn't work
good good atmosphere
What could be improved: breakfast was an extra charge
I enjoyed the location and the room was very nice. I loved the common area with the piano. I spent over an hour playing ang singing. It was very nice since I've been travelling for two months now and haven't had the chance to play during that time.
What could be improved: The receptionist said 14.50. That check in is bot possible yet and I have to sit down to wait until 15.00. I found it a bit strange and the way it was said felt a bit rude.
Had fun felt safe and welcome Very casual bare bones even. But great shower great bed. Wonderful creative energy and charming staff. Fabulous location!
What could be improved: Not much
A memorable and fun place Friendly staff and great ambiance
Great value for money outside the centre. The hotel was clean, staff were nice and it was good value for money.
What could be improved: It's further out than anticipated but it did mean walking through parts of the city we would have ignored.
Very good Excellent value for money great room size and comfy bed, basic room little different from photos but if you plan on being out all day like we did and only sleeping in it then it's fantastic. There is so much going on within the building too it has something for everyone not to central but we loved the walk into town during the day and transport was easy enough to use when going back to the hotel at the end of the day. Overall would recommend
What could be improved: We liked everything basic but just what u need no frills
