Here’s what I really appreciated — the RAI Amsterdam Convention Center is literally next door, so if you’re here for business, you’re golden. The Europaboulevard train station is about a five-minute walk, and it connects you straight to Amsterdam Central Station in roughly ten minutes. You know what’s clever? They’ve got this shuttle service to the city center that runs regularly, so you don’t have to figure out the public transport on your first day.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was on the eighth floor with this massive window overlooking the city — not the postcard-pretty canals, but Amsterdam’s modern skyline which has its own appeal. Everything feels contemporary and functional, with decent storage space and a work desk that’s actually usable (not one of those tiny things hotels sometimes pass off as workspace). The bathroom was spacious with a proper shower, and I mean, the bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the pillows all night.

But if you appreciate modern comfort, reliable service, and easy access to both the business district and tourist areas, Novotel Amsterdam City actually makes a lot of sense. The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that doesn’t try to be quaint but just focuses on being really good at what it does. Plus, you’re getting better value than you would in the historic center, and honestly, those ten minutes into town give you the best of both worlds.
