This three-star spot doesn’t try to be something it’s not, but honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. You’re literally steps from Dam Square, and the energy of central Amsterdam is right outside your door. The building itself has that classic Amsterdam charm without being overly touristy about it.

Location Magic

Here’s what I love about this spot — you can walk to pretty much everything that matters. The Anne Frank House is maybe a ten-minute stroll, and you’re close enough to the Red Light District that you could stumble there after dinner (though you probably won’t stumble back, if you know what I mean). What really surprised me is how couples seem to gravitate toward this place — apparently they rate the location a solid 9.6, and after spending time here, I get it. There’s something romantic about being able to wander the canals without having to plan your whole day around transportation.

The Room Experience

Look, this is a three-star hotel, but the room I stayed in was clean and comfortable enough. The windows actually open — which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many hotels skip this detail — and you get some nice street views if you’re facing the right direction. The beds are decent, though I wouldn’t call them cloud-like or anything. What I appreciated most was the attention to small details: good lighting for reading, enough outlets for your devices, and a bathroom that doesn’t make you feel like you’re in a submarine.

Morning Fuel

The buffet breakfast is actually pretty solid for a three-star place. They’ve got the Dutch basics covered — good bread, decent coffee, and enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying multiple nights. I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’ll definitely fuel you up for a day of walking around the city. The breakfast area gets busy around 8:30, so if you’re not a morning person, either get there early or be prepared to wait a bit.

What keeps people coming back to Nova Hotel is really that unbeatable location combined with solid value. You’re paying for the address here — and in Amsterdam’s city center, that’s not a bad trade-off. The staff seems to genuinely know the neighborhood and can point you toward the good stuff (like which coffee shops actually serve great coffee versus just… other things). Plus, there’s something to be said for being able to walk back to your hotel after a long day instead of figuring out trams or taxis. It’s the kind of place where you spend most of your time out exploring, but you’re always happy to come back to.
