The building has this understated elegance that fits perfectly into the Oud Zuid neighborhood — not trying too hard, but clearly well-maintained. You know what I mean? It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re staying somewhere special without the stuffiness that sometimes comes with four-star places.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location is what really sold me on this place. Oud Zuid is where locals actually want to live — tree-lined streets, genuine cafes, and you’re close enough to everything without being in the tourist chaos of the city center. The Rijksmuseum is literally a pleasant 10-minute walk away, and I actually stumbled upon some fantastic little shops along the way that I never would’ve found otherwise. Plus, there’s a tram stop nearby that connects you to central Amsterdam in no time.
The Apartment Experience
Here’s where Nova really shines — these aren’t just hotel rooms, they’re proper apartments. My apartment had this spacious, lived-in feel that made me want to stay for weeks instead of days. The kitchen was actually functional (shocking, I know), with real appliances and enough space to make proper coffee in the morning. The whole setup felt more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in a hotel, which is exactly what I was hoping for.

The design strikes this nice balance between modern and cozy — clean lines but warm touches that make you feel at home. The room layouts are smart too; they’ve clearly thought about how people actually live and move around a space. I mean, there’s proper storage, good lighting where you need it, and windows that actually open to let in that Amsterdam air. Small details, but they add up to something that just works.

Oversized apartment in a great location away from the city center shenanigans Great location on a side street just off the Museumplein so just a short walk to the major museums, e.g. Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk, and also a large Albert Heijn grocery store -- apartment is huge by Amsterdam standards, and the building even has an elevator which is almost unheard of
What could be improved: There was no corkscrew in the kitchen and there were no facecloths -- fortunately we had brought our own

Clean, charming apartment in an excellent location This is a clean, modern apartment in a very convenient location, near major museums, several tram lines, a grocery store, and a few restaurants. The street it's on had cute, old-city charm.
What could be improved: Only a minor quibble: There is no door or curtains between the bed and the rest of the living area, only a divider wall the same width as the bed, open on either side. This makes it challenging for one person to sleep if the other stays up.
Exceptional Excellent location ner the Museumplain. The location is quiet but it's very close to the city centre and all the main city attractions. The supermarket is just 5 minutes walking distance. The tram stop is realy close so the place is well connected with the rest of the city. The appartment is comfortable and clean. There is a daily cleaning service (wich you can cancel if you don't like to be disturbed), but if you want fresh towels every day, you can just leave a note to the reception and they will leave the fresh towels. Communication with the staff is done mostly via phone or chat (there's no reception area in the apartment building itself) but there is a bell ring for the reception at the entrance door and they will answer immediately. There is also a phone in the appartment....it's a 24/7 service. Great experience, great accomodation to reccomend.
What could be improved: Our studio didn't have a balcony so if you are a smoker you have to go outside on the street, however there is an ashtray at the entrance of the appartment building.
Great place to stay while in Amsterdam The apartment was perfectly located at a quiet street near the museums area, well equipped and very comfortable. It was easy making contact with the staff who answered quickly and politely to any question or request of ours. They were also very generous with recommendations.
I Recommend It Perfect location for museum-goers, Rijks, Van Gogh and Stedelijk within 5-10 minutes of walk.

What could be improved: They have issues with enforcing their no-smoke policy. Occasionally, people do smoke pot in nearby rooms, intoxicating yours as well. Contacting staff about it apparently did help though, as it did not repeat in subsequent days.
A bit expensive.
Superb Nova Apartments is a lovely place to stay – clean, well-maintained, and in a superb location. It’s just a short walk from the Van Gogh Museum and other major attractions. Despite being centrally located, the street is very quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended.
