First Impressions
The NH Amsterdam Schiller sits right on Rembrandtplein, and honestly, you can’t miss it — the building itself is part of Amsterdam‘s charm with its classic brick facade that feels authentically Dutch. I mean, you’re literally steps away from all the action, but somehow the hotel manages to feel like a peaceful retreat once you step inside. The lobby has this warm, understated elegance that immediately tells you this four-star property knows what it’s doing.
The Heart of Amsterdam
You know what’s brilliant about this location? Rembrandtplein is buzzing with cafes and bars, but it’s also perfectly positioned for exploring the real Amsterdam. The famous flower market is just a five-minute walk, and you can easily stroll to the Rijksmuseum or Anne Frank House without dealing with trams or taxis. Actually, I found myself just wandering the canals in the morning — there’s something magical about having the city center practically to yourself before the crowds arrive.
The Room Experience
My room faced the square, which meant I could watch Amsterdam come alive each morning (though if you’re a light sleeper, maybe request a quieter courtyard view). The space felt genuinely comfortable — not trying too hard to be trendy, but thoughtfully designed with good lighting and a bathroom that actually had decent water pressure. The bed was properly firm, and they’ve got blackout curtains that actually work, which is more rare than you’d think in European hotels.
Dining and Atmosphere
The hotel’s restaurant serves solid Dutch-international cuisine, though honestly, with all of Amsterdam’s dining scene right outside your door, I mostly used it for breakfast. And what a breakfast it was — fresh stroopwafels, quality coffee, and enough variety to fuel a full day of canal-side wandering. The staff here really gets hospitality; they’re helpful without being overbearing, and several times they offered genuinely useful local tips rather than just tourist brochure suggestions.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Amsterdam has plenty of hotels, but NH Amsterdam Schiller strikes that perfect balance between location and comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find. You’re not paying premium prices for a room the size of a closet, and you’re not stuck in some sterile chain property that could be anywhere in the world. This place feels distinctly Amsterdam while giving you everything you actually need for a great stay — reliable wifi, comfortable beds, and a front desk that can sort out whatever random question you throw at them.
Hotels near me in Amsterdam deliver easy walks to Vondelpark, Rijksmuseum, and charming bridge-lined waterways.

What Our Guests Say
Excellent Location and Comfortable Stay Absolutely fantastic location — just a short tram ride from Amsterdam Centraal, with the stop virtually at the front door! The room and bathroom weren’t overly spacious, but perfectly adequate for a two-night stay. Following the advice from previous reviews, we chose a room at the back and it was very quiet. The bedroom had power points next to the bed (always a plus!), and the bathroom was well equipped with plenty of toiletries and a free-standing shower. There are numerous restaurants and cafés in the immediate area. While we occasionally used the tram, many attractions were easily walkable from the hotel.
What could be improved: Everything was to our liking!
Good Location
There is no such thing as value for money in downtown Amsterdam, but probably better than other nearby hotels.
Very good Location
What could be improved: Breakfast very overpriced
Superb Location was good. Tram stop in the square close by. Facilities were fine.
What could be improved: It was a noisey neighbourhood at nightime
Great location and beautiful interior that maintains the modern. Location excellent. outlook at rear excellent that you could open window and it was quiet in room and that there was good aircon.
What could be improved: unfortunately no bar food available. Limited seating in foyer.
What about tea making? No instructions if you just wanted hot water from coffee machine.
I wanted a guide/information sheet in English to Schiller's artworks visible in hotel and other artists represented. This would have added to the 'art' location.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Stylish period building fronting the Rembrandtplein
What could be improved: Expensive breakfast with only average selection of foods. I’d asked for a twin room but was only s smaller alternatively at the last minute.
Great location Great location, close to bars and restaurants and close enough to walk around main shops, museums etc. The room was very clean and accommodating.
What could be improved: Nothing to fault
Superb Great location, friendly staff.
Very good Location was perfect. Easy to walk to shops during the day and in central of many clubs at night.
Very good Room was pleasant and clean
What could be improved: There was a lot of noise from the bars downstairs, this went on throughout the whole night every night.
