First Impressions
Munnik’s Hof sits on Buiksloterdijk like it’s been there forever — and honestly, that’s exactly the charm you’re looking for. This four-star gem in Amsterdam Noord feels worlds away from the tourist chaos, yet you’re just a quick ferry ride from Central Station. The building itself has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream for attention, which I actually appreciate after dealing with all the flashy chain hotels downtown.
The Noord Advantage
Here’s what most people don’t realize about Amsterdam Noord — it’s where locals actually live and work. You’ve got the EYE Filmmuseum practically next door, and the whole area has this creative, slightly industrial vibe that’s become incredibly hip. The ferry across the IJ river becomes part of your daily routine, and trust me, those views never get old. Plus, you’ll find parking here that doesn’t cost a fortune, which is basically a miracle in Amsterdam.
The Room Experience
My room had this perfect balance of modern comfort and Dutch practicality. The windows are generous — you know how some European hotels can feel cramped — and the design feels thoughtful rather than cookie-cutter. What really impressed me was the attention to detail: proper lighting for actually reading, outlets where you need them, and a bathroom that doesn’t require yoga poses to use the shower.
Local Flavors
The breakfast situation is solid, though I’d recommend exploring the neighborhood too. There’s this fantastic restaurant scene developing in Noord that most guidebooks haven’t caught onto yet. You’re also close enough to bike into the city center when you want that classic Amsterdam canal experience — the hotel can sort you out with rentals, and the cycle paths here are actually pleasant rather than terrifying.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.5 rating isn’t an accident. Munnik’s Hof gives you that rare combination of feeling like you’re experiencing “real” Amsterdam while still having all the comfort and service you want from a quality hotel. The staff genuinely knows the area and can point you toward things you won’t find in your standard tourist rounds. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned because you’ve discovered a side of the city that feels authentically yours.

What Our Guests Say
Exceptional Wonderful stay, clean , quiet and lovely hosts
Perfect place in Amsterdam Neighbourhood absolutely lovely, the cottage is quite spacious, clean and comfortable and the owners super nice. Allowed us to check in earlier. Communication great
What could be improved: It is a long walk from the metro station - be prepared to walk at least 20 minutes; however view is lovely and very safe to walk anytime
We loved it and would stay again! The Hof was very comfortable and cozy, and felt like a home away from home. The historic neighborhood was very interesting to explore on foot or bike also, and we absolutely appreciated the loan of 2 bikes! We arrived early and were allowed access which was so helpful!
What could be improved: If you don’t have a bike, there’s a lot of walking to get to the Metro or all the way into Amsterdam central. We used the neighborhood grocery store 2x, but had to walk a lot further for coffee / meals otherwise. If there are more than 2 people in the group, suggest renting bikes at Amsterdam Central and those members can bike up to the Hof.
Very nice home in quiet and easy to access location. Location was great!
What could be improved: All was good.
Beautiful home located in peaceful Amsterdam-Noord Gorgeously decorated family style home with a spacious living room and kitchen. Very pleased with the bedrooms, one of them lead outside to a lovely little balcony. Home had two separate toilets and one bathroom.
What could be improved: No complaints, I had the most wonderful stay!
Exceptional Gorgeous property in a quiet suburb of Amsterdam North, but still very close to the city by metro or walking distance to lots of amenities locally. The owners were very friendly, and left us to enjoy our peaceful break. The property was clean, warm, airy and bright and was surrounded by green space and parks.
What could be improved: Nothing. The place was perfect.
Exceptional Absolutely wonderful
Exceptional An exceptionally cool place to stay. First, the street itself – beautiful houses with a long history, surrounded by lovely greenery. The accommodation is in a quiet and peaceful courtyard house, cozy, with two bedrooms upstairs and a living room and kitchen downstairs. Everything was clean and tidy. We were completely satisfied.
Best property we have stayed in in our 4 weeks away from Australia Everything. We would definitely stay here again. Very responsive and friendly host.
What could be improved: Nothing
Exceptional Fabulous cottage with great views and everything you could want or need.
