Mr. Jordaan
First Impressions Walking up to Mr.
First Impressions
Walking up to Mr. Jordaan on Bloemgracht, you immediately get why this three-star boutique hotel has such devoted fans. The building sits right on one of Amsterdam‘s most photogenic canals, and honestly, the location alone makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a postcard. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of the Jordaan district — that’s the charming, village-like neighborhood that locals actually want to live in, not just the touristy bits everyone talks about.
The Neighborhood Magic
What I love about staying here is how you’re surrounded by the real Amsterdam. The Jordaan isn’t just pretty (though those tree-lined canals definitely don’t hurt) — it’s where you’ll find the best brown cafés, quirky vintage shops, and Saturday markets that locals actually shop at. You know what’s really nice? You can walk to the Anne Frank House in about five minutes, but you’re far enough from the crowds that you can actually breathe. The couples who stay here absolutely rave about wandering these streets together, and I get it — there’s something genuinely romantic about having your own little corner of the city.
Sleep Quality That Actually Matters
Here’s something that surprised me — for a hotel in the middle of a busy city, the beds are ridiculously comfortable. I’m talking about the kind of sleep where you wake up confused about what time zone you’re in. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Amsterdam, after all), but they’re thoughtfully designed with that clean, minimalist Dutch aesthetic that somehow makes everything feel more spacious than it actually is. The windows look out onto either the canal or the quiet courtyard, so you’re not dealing with street noise all night.
Morning Fuel
The breakfast setup is pretty solid — they do both continental and buffet style, which gives you options depending on whether you’re the “quick coffee and pastry” type or the “I need actual fuel for a day of walking” type. What I appreciate is that they source locally when they can, so you’re getting proper Dutch cheese and fresh bread from neighborhood bakeries. It’s not fancy, but it’s real food that’ll actually keep you going until lunch.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Mr. Jordaan isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in town, and that’s exactly why it works so well. You’re paying for an authentic Amsterdam experience in one of the city’s most beloved neighborhoods, with genuinely comfortable accommodations and staff who know the area inside and out. The fact that it consistently scores above 9 out of 10 tells you everything — people come here, fall in love with the location and the whole vibe, and leave planning their next trip back. If you want to feel like you’re staying in Amsterdam rather than just visiting it, this is your spot.
Amsterdam hotels keep travelers close to cycling routes, floating flower markets, and tram lines to hidden gems.

What Our Guests Say
Enjoyed our stay very much! Good location and very nice property
So much fun Absolutely loved the location, staff was wonderful
What could be improved: I liked everything
Excellent place to stay. Would recommend The staff were really lovely and paid attention to the little extras that make a stay special.
Great location
What could be improved: The twin room we stayed in was very small. It was fine but next time I would request a larger one.
Quirky Little Gem The hotel is quaint and quirky. Nice distance from the centre so it's not noisy at night when it's busy. Room was nice, hotel very clean throughout, amazing staff. Special shout out to the lady who checked us in and the manager that sorted out the small issue.
Also, a nice little food parcel on checkout was a lovely touch and just what was needed for the journey home.
What could be improved: No food facilities at hotel except continental breakfast and nothing nearby food wise, a little disappointing especially if your tired and want to relax in your room, after a long days travel.. However the night receptionist was helpful guiding us ordering food for delivery!
Be careful when booking as pictures do t match the relevant rooms which the manager stated it was being sorted.
Beautiful building in a fantastic neighbourhood with nice staff. Beautiful building in a fantastic neighbourhood with nice staff. They give you a giant bag of candy when you check out.
What could be improved: Slow elevator was the one and only thing that was not fantastic.
Beautiful for the person who wakes up early Location was fantastic - right in the heart of where I wanted to be. I was able to walk to all my sights from the hotel, and the street itself is beautiful. Staff were very friendly. Room itself was nice, and very clean.
What could be improved: It was quite noisy in the mornings. I heard it depends on which room you have, and my room was on the front street in the corridor where every guess walks down when they use the stairs, so from the early morning I could hear people talking as they went to breakfast and deliveries being delivered. Definitely couldn’t sleep in while I was here. I would like to stay here again but I’d request a room with less noise traffic.
Great stay. Woudl stay again Great place. Great location. Amazing hospitality.
What could be improved: Towels were old and not fluffy. Lots of stairs and slow slow lift.
Best place to stay in Amsterdam Everything, best place to stay in Amsterdam, will tell all my friends to stay with you guys.
